Caribou Coffee — Restaurant in Mound

i normally don’t like to complain however i feel this visit warrants it unfortunately. i went through the drive through to get my dad and i a coffee as i’ve done several times. however, this was not a good idea nor that i’ve lived the experience. i ordered a matcha for myself which i haven’t in forever and a large dark roast for my dad. ive worked at caribou in the past so i know those drinks do not take long and are hard to mess up. however this was not my experience. first, it took much longer than it should’ve. this other should take maybe 3 minutes if busy- they were not. it took closer to 7. i was fine with this, i had nowhere to be. my issue was with my drink. first, there was no stopper in my coffee so it spilled on me right away and burned. this still wasn’t my issue as i am used to it from working with coffee for years. my issue was the matcha. when handed it, it looked extremely light and frothy. i understand it is made with a blender but my matches at caribou were never that foamy. upon drinking it after already driving off, it tasted like nothing. then, it just tasted gross. i love matcha, this was not a proper matcha. i’ve made myself matcha with the exact recipe caribou uses and they have never failed. this one was just not good. i couldn't go back as i had to get my dads drink back before it got cold (no stopper). this was disappointing. i treated myself with a large and was let down. worst...

Walked into store to order a coffee, with our masks on. Staff acted quite "put-upon", like we were imposing on them (eye roll and sighs). Note: there is no sign saying that they will not serve walk in customers. Proceeded to take our order while making a show out of staying well over 6 feet away for social distancing purposes and being horrified at handling cash. While making our coffees, barista, working within close proximity to 6 or more other staff, adjusted/touched mask several times and then brought out our coffees by holding onto tops with palms down and touching tops of our cup lids. So, acted very sanctimonious while not practicing normal sanitary practices. BTW- people coming into get online orders proceed to touch every cup/bag while searching for their own. Without a doubt, this is my favorite Caribou I have ever been to.

The consistency of the baristas here is impeccable. Every time I visit... I get my favorite coffee brewed and crafted to perfection.

The drive thru is quick and painless. Even large orders ahead of mine are made quickly and efficiently.

But my favorite part of this location... is the people who work there.

This is my go-to business to wake me up and get my day started right.

the people who work here always have a kind word or always have a joke to make me laugh... it is why I always come back.

The Mound location of Caribou Coffee is the perfect combination of personalities and hard workers... each complimenting the other.

I always leave with a smile. To me, that is all someone really needs to start their day.
