I've been bringing my daughter to this park since she was able to crawl. I had her first birthday there and am having her second birthday in a few weeks at the same pavilion. She loves it there. Very clean. I give 3 stars because of the lack of supervision. There is a 2-5 play area and a 5+ playground. I am tired of seeing teenagers in the toddler play area taking up their space. Last year when the splash pad was open, bigger kids would run over to the baby side and my daughter got pushed down multiple times (she was one and just started walking) one kid even grabbed her arm while she was holding onto a structure and pulled her causing her face to hit. I tracked down the childs father and told him what happened. He didnt seem to care. I told the lifeguards (teenagers) I was tired of my daughter getting bullied and nothing happens as far as authority. I ended up calling the center the next day and telling them about the incident. I said if you're you're going to have a baby area and a big kid area, they need to be separated or roped off. The lady said shed send my concern to the guy over the park and they would call me back. 4 days later I followed up and she said he was on vacation and she would let him know when he got back. A year later and I havent heard a damn thing. The lack of care the employees have is astounding. Every time I walk into the community center to use the restroom or go to an event happening (east end play dates) the person in the office is glued to their phone. It's a shame really. Such a beautiful park is ruined by the people that are supposed to...
Read moreOur favorite park in MJ for a long time now! Lots to do all year long there! Best part of the year is always summer time for us! Huge playground with a ton of different things to do for all different ages & preferences.. 2 large covered picnic table areas for shelter, throwing parties or grilling.. a Splash Pad directly next to the park for convenience & added fun for the little ones & their parents as well! :) There are age restrictions & certain days/times of operation. Sign is posted on the entry gate to the splash pad. Large tennis court, a skate park for skate boarding/scooters..etc., a large sanded Volleyball net/area, a basketball court with 2 nets at each end, large football field with bleachers, a workout area and large walking path that circles the park. Tons of parking, as well as an indoor recreational area with a large indoor basketball court, bathrooms 🚻 (also has bathrooms outside of the center as well) & I'm not sure what else since we've only ever gone in to use restroom or use their vending machines (1 candy/chips/cookies machine & 1 drink). It does cost to go in the center for the basketball court/gymnasium area.. believe it's $2 or $4 a person for any amount of time as long as it's within their business hours of course. Not sure what the operational days of the week are or what time they open but I know they close at/around...
Read moreI love this park. I'm a local resident and frequently take my dog there to walk the grounds. It's very dog friendly as long as you keep the pup on a leash and pick up the messes. They make this easy too by providing poop bags and appropriate trash receptacles.
The parking is free and adequate, and the grounds are always well maintained. They have paved walking trails both around the ball fields and around the picnic/play areas. The play area is magnificent--a kid could live there. They also have a really nice splash pad that is full pretty much all summer. The park also has a small skateboard area, basketball and volleyball court, tennis courts and picnic shelters. Another thing I like about it is that the park backs up to the local police station, so it always seems safe. I've never had any negative experiences and I frequent the place. It's also a great place for festivals such as the Solar Eclipse Viewing Party and Halloween in The Park. During summer months, there is even a small farmer's market.
Charlie Daniels Park is very family oriented and kid friendly. Plenty of people walk their dogs here too. It's a happy place and I highly...
