Food: Amazing. I got the breakfast hash and a side of the smoked gouda grits. They were so good. I hate grits, and I loved the smokes gouda grits. That's how good they were. The breakfast hash was really good also, the potatoes could have used a bit more seasoning but nothing a little salt and pepper at the table couldn't handle.
Service: Also great. Server was always asking us if we needed something else and our meal was prompt and correct. No issues on that end what so ever!
Payment: Here's where I cut off two stars. When it came to payment I gave my card to the server and she pulled out a palm pilot and stood beside me while I selected my tip amount and receipt options. This is such a bad thing to do. To some it's fine, but to others it makes them feel pressured into tipping more. Especially since whatever amount they put goes to the person standing 2 feet from them. It's not good practice and it just feels like unwanted pressure. If I eat here in the future I will just grab it to go and avoid that issue. The second payment issue is the suggested tip amount. 20% being the lowest option. Again, I know it's a suggestion and people can put whatever they want but when they put a range from 20 to 25% on there it's suggesting to them that is what they are expected to put. Then tacking on another 3 dollars for a CC processing fee for me making your life easier by using my card instead of pulling out a bunch of dirty money and coins? All that on top of the fact that it was over 50 dollars for a family of 3 to eat breakfast when we could have paid a third of that at a drive through kinda hits hard. Tacked on fees and suggested tips higher than average do not fair well in a society that already has tons of predatory "inflation" at grocery stores and other places while CEOs record record sales numbers . I understand it's a local business so it does not fall under that category, but maybe tone it back a bit.
Or don't, either way the food was really good, the service was good and I would possibly eat here again in the future, just ordering to go, paying with cash, and picking one of the...
Read moreThe food here is outstanding! There was an issue with the service that I'll address, but everything that came out of their kitchen was absolutely gorgeous. They took great care plating the dishes. Each entree was a work of art. It was amazing watching the various dishes come out to the tables. One of the servers brought us the wrong plates, and they looked so delicious I almost accepted them.
I ordered the Sunrise Grit bowl, and my wife ordered the Hot Piggy Benedict with a side smoked gouda cheese grits.
There were at least 80 people dining when we arrived, and we were seated fairly quickly. I thought our server was friendly. He brought me a sweet tea, and my wife had apple juice and water. He put our order in...and then we didn't hear from him for nearly half an hour. He didn't check on us at all, although he walked past our table several times.
I wanted more tea, my wife wanted more water...nothing. They were getting even busier as we waited. That's when the mix-up with our order happened. Another server brought the wrong plates to our table. They got that sorted and still nothing from our primary server. Finally, my wife waved over another server and complained to her that we had been sitting for nearly half an hour and hadn't been offered a refill.
I don't know what she said to our server, but my cup stayed full after that, and he was much more attentive. That part aside, the food is amazing here. I'd love to try more of their menu. I definitely want to try the lunch and dinner items. They were quick to get tables cleaned and ready for new guests. Bathrooms were clean as well.
I say again that the food is outstanding here. Both of our dishes were tasty. I've never had tomato gravy, but the flavors worked really well with my eggs, grits, and andouille sausage. My wife really loved her Hot Piggy Benedict. I would have given them a perfect score if not for the hiccups in the service, but my wife and I are...
Read moreI had heard raving reviews from several locals about this place! So many offerings of fresh, delicious comfort foods.
I’ll start by gushing about their incredible Bacon Egg Cheese Biscuit. Brace yourself for a flavor explosion as you sink your teeth into their buttermilk biscuit (made with love!) generously layered with cheddar(?) cheese, crispy bacon, and fluffy scrambled eggs. Every bite was a symphony of the perfect blend of flavors. I was skeptical at first. I didn’t like the look of the cheese, it kinda looked like processed American cheese that wasn’t entirely melted but it was actually really, really good! That’s all I care about.
Next up - the TPM Two Egg Breakfast at The Paper Mill deserves its own standing ovation. It’s basically a build-your-breakfast. My plate of deliciousness consisted of two perfectly cooked, buttery scrambled eggs. Paired with crispy bacon that was cooked to crispy perfection, a side of tantalizing crispy potato hash, and—of course—their heavenly biscuits, this breakfast ensemble was nothing short of extraordinary!!
I also have a couple honorary mentions. First off, I LOVED the pepper jelly I asked to go with my biscuits. Just the right amount of light sweetness and spicy kick! Highly recommend for the adventurous palate! Also, I ordered a side of sausage gravy to add even more pizzazz. It was absolutely delish! So much so I found myself eating it by the spoonful several times, sns!
The ambiance at The Paper Mill is cozy and inviting, making it the ideal spot to start your day with a smile. The charming atmosphere, combined with the outstanding food, creates an unforgettable breakfast experience that will have you planning your next visit before you've even...
