June 16th edit: Really appreciate Jerry Blackwell for reaching out this weekend about our experience earlier this month. Circumstances with their Internet and other issues were at the root of the problem and responsiveness. He was extremely gracious and apologetic for our dinner event. We will definitely not write POG off our restaurant go-to list.**

We were so disappointed with our visit on June 1, 2025. I waited to post this as we'd called three times to discuss this with a manager but have never received a response.

Our son, daughter in law and grandson were visiting for the first time so we wanted to share one of our favorite restaurants in Mount Pleasant. There was almost nothing that was right about the meal that evening.

Our waitress had a huge party in a back private room and our table (46). We saw her once which was when she finally had time to take out order.

Our grandsons Mac and cheese was overcooked and inedible - he is 4 and eats almost everything. We ordered fries for him when he couldn't eat the macaroni and that took 22 minutes to place the order and another 15 to get the food. My husbands okra was warm at best which we finally had replaced after flagging down a manager. Our son ordered a platter that had sea bass which was inedible - cold and tasteless. Our daughter in law was looking forward to the acclaimed shrimp and grits - also cold. My oysters were room temp - only the green beans were warm. $150+ (2 drinks in the tab) plus tip for truly one of the worst meals we have experienced.

While the food was terrible we are most disappointed in the inability for a manager to return a phone call. The hostesses had called us up and the questioned one another if they should seat us at this table. The answer should have been no. The waitress was unable to cover so many people.

Bringing friends to POG was a highlight in the past. It seems obvious the management cares about profit but not quality which is so disappointing.

POG is not what...

All in all a good place to eat. What food we got tasted AMAZING. Our waitress also AMAZING. However, there are a couple SERIOUS areas they can improve. One of which just land them in a liability lawsuit.

(1) The kitchens accuracy. During my guest and I visit, wasn't overly busy. But somehow ended up with WAY more food than we ordered only because the food we ordered was brought out by some 3rd party who "assumed" it was right. For example, I ordered a side of your Okra Salad. I was brought soup. Ordered an extra piece of chicken thigh. Was brought a chicken leg. Then ordered side of cornbread. Never was brought that. And most irritating was my food was brought long before my guest, so here I waiting for my guests food while it was getting cold so we can eat together. Needless to say our waitress was MAD with her help.

(2) The decor. More specifically, yalls table chairs. Now I knownthey look all pretty and all. But I wonder how many of them have failed with prior guests not counting my personal witness along with many others of a gentleman getting dumped on the floor because the chair crumpled like a beer can. Now for the record, the gentleman was about average sized, but was older and didn't seem the type to get around very well. So seeing that, only confirmed my wise choice to only sit on the very edge of my chair rather than sit fully back to relax.

In conclusion, yes I would come back, but just not in an overly big hurry. I'm most concerned of my overall comfort utilizing the furniture to enjoy my meal. I darn sure don't wanna end up on the floor myself. Yes other seating options are available, but VERY LIMITED and don't accommodate for multiple guests at one table. 1 if not more guests WILL have to use these...

On Sunday, August 11th, my daughter and I visited Pages Okra Grill, located at 302 Coleman Boulevard in Mount Pleasant. Arriving right at 1:00 PM, we were excited to enjoy another meal at one of our favorite spots.

For starters, we ordered the fried green tomatoes and the redneck rolls, both of which were an excellent beginning to our meal. The fried green tomatoes had a perfect crispy exterior, and the redneck rolls offered a unique and flavorful experience.

For our main courses, my daughter opted for the buttermilk pancakes and fried chicken. The chicken was crispy and well-seasoned, pairing wonderfully with the pancakes. The pancakes were a highlight as they were large, fluffy, and perfectly cooked. She thoroughly enjoyed her meal.

I chose the fried shrimp platter, which included 12 large shrimp, fried to perfection, along with two sides: fried okra and a side salad. The shrimp were fresh and flavorful, just as I remembered from our previous visits, and the sides complemented the dish nicely.

We both had water with our meal, and I enjoyed a Diet Pepsi. My daughter explored their specialty drinks, trying both the Holy Water and Pages Bellini. While she found the Holy Water to be a delightful and refreshing choice, she felt that the Pages Bellini was a bit too strong, though she did finish it.

Overall, we were very pleased with our dining experience at Pages Okra Grill. The food was consistently great, and the service was efficient and friendly. Gabby was our server and she was very attentive, and polite. We have been frequent visitors in the past, and this visit only reaffirmed that we will continue to return in the future. Pages Okra Grill remains a top choice for us when we are in the Mount...
