
Iām trying my best to be as considerate as possible in this review so just keep that in mind. I have heard fantastic things about this cozy place so I decided to finally try it. The atmosphere is amazing, I love the cozy house vibe and itās pretty quaint. That being said, Iām rather disappointed and wonāt be back. The considerate side of me understands that they are really busy and that can be really overwhelming but, doesnāt excuse the issues I had. So, the gal taking orders was very kind but seemed lost. I asked if they had half and half to make a breve, she asked and they do so yippee! But I had to repeat my order to her 4 times- 2 ICED caramel breves to go. I then ask what flavor scone was in the case, it was kind of hard to tell, and she just said āidk blueberry or chocolate chipā, okay fine. I will like either so I order one as well. After about a 20 minute wait (again, they are so busy so i understand) I finally get my order. Well, I get my unknown scone but I receive 2 HOT caramel breveās in ceramic mugs for here. I let the gentleman know, I wanted them to go but since they steamed the milk Iāll just deal with them being hot (the heat index is 92 today but Iāll deal). I get to my car, get stuck in traffic so I decide to try one. There is no caramel. An for a hot latte, they were medium warm at best. All this to say, I understand when someone is overwhelmed they mess things up but I said my order 4 times to make sure, the gentleman making the coffees absolutely heard my order because he clarified they can in fact make breve. I do live here, Iām not a tourist so Iām really disappointed a place with such a good vibe turned out so disappointing. Iām not mad about being our $20+, itās just another unfortunate coffee shop in Charleston/Mt P. This review involves issues that are so easily resolved, just listening skills. I hope they can improve as Iām a huge advocate for a local business- I come from a family of small businesses. Anyways, carry on! I hope nothing but the best for this coffee shop. Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe coffee was great but the food left something to be desired. We got to the Vintage Coffee Cafe at peak hour on a Sunday so we knew we were going to wait. Expecting some good food we waited inside sipping on our coffee. It took 30 minutes for members of our party to receive their croissant which was just sitting in the pastry cabinet and the food took another 15 minutes. When the food came out the hash was not hot and did not have a lot of flavor but I was starving so I ate it without complaining. There was no way to talk with any of the staff members because they were so busy but I would recommend having the person at the register hand out the pastries right when they are ordered so the kitchen staff can focus on the prepared food instead of having to wait. Also, iced coffee refills should be free or .50 not half the price. The staff knew we had been waiting for about an hour and could have had better customer service by giving me a free refill while I waited. We received two partially filled AƧaĆ bowls (no more than 2/3 full). One of the bowls being slightly over half full with a pathetic amount of fruit (five blueberries, a sliced strawberries, and five slices of a banana). Having eaten the AƧaĆ bowl from Vintage Cafe before and off their advertisement on their Instagram a half full container was not the normal for an AƧaĆ bowl. When I brought it back to the server and asked for a full AƧaĆ bowl he brought it to the kitchen which the kitchen staff told him to pass on that the half bowl is the standard serving size. To amplify the staffās lack of pride in their work half of the aƧaĆ was one large frozen chunk.
I donāt see a reason to go back as there are better cafe locations. To sum it up, their service and tone was very disappointing and judging by otherās reviews of the rude and poor service I wouldnāt be surprised if the business struggles...
