We ordered a couch from Steven Shell at the end of March and were told it would take 8 to 10 weeks for it to arrive. After 10 weeks passed with no update, we called for a status. No one seemed to know where our couch was — they just kept repeating that their system showed an 8 to 10 week lead time.
After pushing for answers, we finally learned the fabric we selected was out of stock. We understand delays happen — that’s not the issue. The issue is no one bothered to tell us. We only found out because we called.
At that point, they told us the couch would be ready mid July. Now it’s July 21st, and again, we’ve heard nothing. We called again and got a vague answer that it should be ready “mid july” (which has obviously passed). When we asked for more information, they said the buyer would call us on Monday.
Monday came and went with no call. We followed up ourselves — again — and were simply told to wait another week because the buyer is out for medical reasons. We totally dont hold that against them, but someone else should have called to communicate that to us instead of us having to follow up again.
We’ll see if anything actually happens next week. But based on this pattern, I’m guessing we’ll be the ones chasing them down yet again. Hopefully by 2030 we'll have our couch.
On the positive side, when we requested a discount for the trouble, they did agree to a small discount, which we appreciated. But honestly, we shouldn’t have had to go through all this to begin with.
The biggest frustration has been the complete lack of communication. It’s unreasonable that we’ve had to make every effort just to get basic updates.
Pros: Friendly employees Nice showroom Willing to offer a small discount when we requested it

Read moreCustomer service was very poor which is a shame as they do have nice offerings. In addition to that we purchased furniture and were told that they supported two companies for delivery. Discount delivery is who were their sponsored delivery team. That company had very nice movers, but they ripped a $6000 rug then refused to file a claim. They stated they would call us back after they left to confirm the details. They never did. We called Steve and She’ll back and spoke to their manager expressing how their Preffered vendor was mistreating us and refused to contact us back. We expressed we were not asking Steve and Shell for anything just letting them know how their vendor was treating us and their response was” well what did you pay them, followed by “ we haven’t heard any other complaints “. They never acted concerned or cared. By the way their drivers had other bad reviews. All in all we will never shop there again. It’s not worth the frustration of being...
Read moreThis is the ONLY furniture store I can get my husband to go in. We built a new house this past year and pretty much got rid of our old stuff and replaced it all with many different pieces from here. We love each and every piece and get tons of compliments! We love the fact that it’s all real wood and no pre fab furniture. These are heavy solid pieces that will last a life time. Many different colors and sizes to chose from. I think in total we have 7 pieces! We also love the fact they let you take a piece of furniture home to see if it will work. No hassles if it doesn’t look right or match!! Just bring it back the next day. So if you don’t see what you want in the store that is exactly what you want, they can order just about anything. The only downfall is that it may take 10 or more weeks to come in. Trust me well worth the wait to get exact size or color of the piece of furniture you are wanting to...
