What an absolutely fun trail! First day i parked by what google marked as the trail head, the trail goes all the way around Stone Mountain, it doesn’t matter where you start off you are doing the whole loop. Many cool things to see for sure. Park by Quarry or Grist Mill parking lots for some cool stone features, a working water mill, and a really neat part of the trail. From there i went south East on the trail through the lake region. Pretty gorgeous for sure. The trail goes along the shoreline for a lot of this part. The trail is marked pretty well, just follow the Roman number I. I ended up getting a later start, but with a flashlight, no problem. Get to a part that goes uphill and the path is Stone Mountain so beware of slipping on the rock. The party also interconnects with other paths including the ones going up to the top of the mountain, which I highly recommend. A lot of people were descending around 8:00 pm. First week of October, so the Pumpkin Festival is going on, which adds a really cool atmosphere to the whole hike. Even got to see the train at night, friggen cool man! I can go on, but I digress. Do this hike before sunset for a really...

Read moreTook the gondola up to the top of the mountain and walked down to the Cherokee Trail and tried to keep on it but it just ant part of the main trail and eventually I lost my way on the trail as all the rock looked like a trail and turns out these are just rocky areas that look like trails. Eventually I made it back to the main trail after it got dark. Could spend hours out here but then started seeing deer and didn’t want to be in their way in the dark woods. Went back again the next day but only went up and down the main trail and got excellent views of Atlanta. Make sure to take water as the hike up can...
