It’s always a joy to come get serviced by Courtney. Her personality, knowledge, and vibes are unmatched. However, I left my last visit totally regretting my decision to keep the appointment.
When I leave a salon, I want to feel like I got my money’s worth. I left feeling like I just got scammed for $225. Paying $150 for a trim seems inane to me. The last time I came, I paid $70 for both services. I can’t personally justify spending $225 on a treatment, trim, and two plaits.
Maybe I’m unaccustomed to people happily paying that much for a trim, but I feel like the price should have definitely been mentioned beforehand, especially since I didn’t directly book it, and there was an extreme price hike since the last visit.
I definitely won’t ever make the mistake of accepting a service without knowing the price. Additionally, I do understand that stylists need to charge their worth. However in the same light, transparency in that moment would have been deeply appreciated because there is no one on this earth, nor beyond it, I’m willingly handing $150 to for a trim.
I was so happy when she was able to fit me in for a trim, but after leaving, there was nothing but regret and a mistrust that didn’t exist before.
Edit after owner’s response:
Since I don’t need much service other than a trim and difficulty of getting an appointment, I don’t consider myself a regular client, so I don’t read the newsletter regularly. Yes, a text with a link detailing prices was sent to me the morning of my appointment. However, at the time my appointment was only for a treatment, which is $50.
I was called at 11:29 with notice that she could do a trim at 12pm, one hour before my set appointment. I was out running errands and rushed to get to the appointment. I didn’t think to check the price list, and who honestly thinks a trim will be $150.
As far as tipping ( I didn’t want to due to the cost; tip was only $10), recording a short video of the services I received, and giving a hug, that doesn’t mean I agree with the value of the services I received. It was a personal war of appreciating Courtney for who she is as a person and stylist, but I was nervous satisfied about the price. I texted my dissatisfaction soon after I left, which received no response.
Once again, I admit my mistake of not throughly checking the price before service. However, as I said the trim service wasn’t booked through the site and it increased almost 3x the amount. I’m entitled to feel that charging someone $150 for a trim is...
Read moreSo I’ve waited to see how long the treatment lasted and to calm down and to see what is shrinkage and what is actual length removed. I took my daughter here. I was welcomed and greeted and not allowed to go back with my daughter. Both people there were very nice and welcoming, including the stylist.. However, I specifically asked to discuss the trim with the stylist. We discussed an inch off. No more. The stylist took up to 4 or 5 inches off the front and at least 3” off the back. I kept mentioning how short it looked when my daughter came out to use the bathroom. I was shocked. She told me it was shrinkage. It was not. Having styled my daughters hair myself now, I realize she took way more off than was discussed. Honestly, I’ve had nights where I cannot sleep thinking about what was done to my daughter’s hair. I still get upset when I see how short it is. Her hair was not damaged and didn’t need that much off. I will never go here again and honestly probably will never trust another stylist with her hair. 10 years of growing her hair for someone to chop it off. And the cut wasn’t even cute. It looked like a bowl cut. I wouldn’t recommend this place. Also, the process too a whopping 5 hours+. And the cost was way too much. All I...
Read moreI went to The Curl Conqueror in Stone Mountain hoping to add shape and fullness to my fine, naturally curly hair. After a $60 consultation, I booked their Curl Conquering Method® ($350) with high expectations. Unfortunately, the experience fell short.
They used unlabeled, heavy products that left my hair flat and overworked. The stylist cut 2 inches off evenly all around, but the result looked boxy and outdated—not the defined, light curls I’d hoped for. I voiced my disappointment, and while they waived the remaining balance, the damage was done. Once I got home and blow-dried my hair, I saw the cut was uneven too.
This place may work for tighter textures, but if you have fine or looser curls, I would not recommend it. They did not tailor the method to my hair’s needs, despite claiming expertise in all curl types. Before and after...
