I absolutely love this bookstore, it is one of my all time favorite bookstores. I come from Morgan Hill area to this bookstore in Mountain View, CA. Because of the wonderful book selection, jewelry, clothing, and other spiritual purposes. So it saddens me that I have to write a terrible review not because of the store and their items, but because of the absolute rude male staff at the cashier area. I have met his rudeness on two different occasions. First incident, was absolutely no acknowledgement when arrived at the store, which is not that bad, but when I inquired about a purse that had a cardboard tie around the strap that was super easy to slip on and off, to see if the purse would look good on. I politely asked him if I could remove it so I could try the purse on and that I’d replace it very easy. Why I even asked was just out of polite courtesy, however he straight up said no you cannot remove it than replace it. Giving no valid reason, just being super rude and un accommodating. So I walked over to the mirror did it anyway , tried the purse on neatly replaced it back the way it was and purchased the purse anyway. I then see him being accommodating to another customer that made me scratch my head in confusion as to why he gave me such a hard time. The second experience was I was browsing for some clothing, I asked him if I could try the clothing on. And he made me wait to finally open the dressing room. I brought two pairs of pants up to the cash register to ask the employee about the pants who the designer was , and he gave me no information and again very rude and dismissive. Then I heard him speaking to another customer and spending time giving her compliments being very friendly. I felt actually at this point discriminated against, I ended up buying the two pants at 80.00 each, because I loved the design. But from start to finish my whole experience was terrible because how he made me feel dismissed and actually like I was nobody. In all honesty I’ve never been treated this way in all my years of a shopping experience, after I left with my nearly 200.00 purchase I was brought to tears in my car as it was very hurtful to have a staff member be so rude and dismissive. I would love to give a great review to this bookstore as I spend a lot of time and money there, it’s also a place I enjoy bringing friends and family members to who come out of town, however I was compelled to write this review because I’ve never experienced such disregard for a human. I went there again recently after Fourth of July and saw two new employees, that were very nice and courteous. So I’m hoping that other younger blond fellow does not work there anymore because I want to have great experiences when I visit my favorite bookstore. Not felt like I’m not...

This is my go to store for ALL my health issues. This is my go to store for the persons you have a hard time finding gifts for. This is my go to store when i need peace and grounding. Its a store i have recommended to MANY friends and acquaintances. (Over the years 100s of people.) Ive been enjoying the warm friendly staff, special speakers, healers, musicians, teachers and other very interesting people since long ago. Menlo Park on El Camino days. Sometimes turning a person on to a new location is a gift in itself. THIS is one of those places. Please give yourself at least a couple hours to enjoy all this store has to offer. You will NOT be disappointed. East West bookstore is and has been at the top of my favorite places to be for quite sometime. Take the time to check out their guests (and they have MANY) on their calendar before ya go. Usually early evening is the time to catch a great presentation or even musical performers. You can make an evening out of your visit. Castro Street is overflowing with quite the diverse selection of restaurants. Warm weather, friendly people, overall a very relaxing atmosphere. Check it out. Cal Train will even get you there. Walk west from the Castro Station. You...

I have lived in San Jose for 18 years, every weekend we go to a different zones of the Bay Area and one of my favorites is Mountain View, where we go for lunch, spend the afternoon drinking coffee and matcha ( me) and working online. Last Saturday after lunch my husband wanted to enter this store looking for a specific incense. What a nice surprise. I went through all the corners of the spacious place, I noticed that they have a yoga area with cushions, bowls, and another calm area in the back. It is full of religious, spiritual, decorative objects, stones, an immense variety of new used spanish books, clothing, hats, backpacks, crystals, bags, jewelry, all kinds of incense, the classics and other new scents that I use daily to meditate (I do mindfulness) The staff is very friendly, help us to find what we were looking for and we end buying beautiful unexpected things that I need =D I highly recommend this place for a nice pause in...

being racially profiled was the last thing i expected today, and i was surprised to see others reviewers experience the exact same thing. being closely followed?? and watched?? being asked to place our bags on the floor, unattended, where there is obviously no designated area for it so apparently the employees pick and choose who to give this vip treatment to (i’d like to add that we are minors) DESPITE all the other white people in the store with bags nobody bats an eye. this is genuinely annoying and ironic that our own cultural items are being sold while we are treated like literal criminal suspects. it was also super uncomfortable having to be stared at by an old lady with no humility. tbh everything is overpriced and not worth it dont waste ur money🙌

This is both a gift store and a metaphysical bookshop that is definitely worth a visit if you’re in downtown Mountain View. I found lots of stuff I was looking for and even things I wasn’t looking for. The only thing they were out of was tuning forks but I bet if I lived in the area I could come back and they’d be in stock. There sound bowls were very well priced as were their Oracle decks and candles. The store owner was very kind to let me keep all my things at the counter until I checked out. The surrounding area is on a closed off street with lots of cafés and restaurants if you wanna make a day of it.
