It was my first time trying this restaurant and first time trying authentic Indian food. My roomate is indian and highly rated this place as the top for Indian cuisine. The waiters and waitresses were very nice, very attentive, very friendly. They didn’t rush us which I appreciated. Food: The samosas were okay, I’ve def had better with more flavor and it was disappointing to get a cold half cooked half frozen one for our appetizer. I quickly let the waiter know and he apologized. He told me they make them fresh and keep in the fridge but these hadn’t thawed out long enough. He then quickly out some fresh ones out minutes later. He asked if these were okay and tasted better. These are smaller than the samosas I’ve tried or seen in the past so I was shocked to see that when receiving them. Taste: The flavor I would rate a 3/5. And I would say expensive to have three that size. However the chutneys were delicious I had a sweet spicy one with a little kick and then a very minty chunky green one. It came with a dry salad which wasn’t necessary. I also had a dark hair in my salad which was also disappointing. My roomate asked if I wanted to leave but I tried to remain optimistic since the whole purpose of the Friday was to try Indian food. I wish I had other pictures of the Naan and food but I was so frustrated while trying to have a good Friday still, I stopped taking pictures after the appetizer just completely letting me down.
Naan: Omg the pesto naan was out of this world! So buttery, greasy, soft, flavorful, and huge. It only comes with two in basket but I was so full off of one + my butter chicken. Entree: Get the butter chicken, that flavor was bommmb! Omg it was amazing, like a creamy tomato sauce with delightful flavors +moist big pieces of chicken. I would return just for the naan and butter chicken. It was delicious. I reheated it the next day and it was even better. That sauce is def one too remember. Minus the beginning being a rough start, they ended with w home run. I did like how the staff checked on us and asked how our food was and how it tasted at the end which was nice. And our waiter sincerely apologized for the...
Read moreDefinitely try their buffet. At the time of this review, the buffet is $25 per person. The lychee halwa is a bomb, must try. They can seat groups as large as 30 in a secluded area away from all the general guests. Park in the back parking lot.
Sakoon Indian restaurant (North Indian cuisine) in Mountain View, California is a hidden gem that serves up delicious and authentic North Indian cuisine. Located on Castro Street, the restaurant has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with colorful decor and cozy seating. The menu is extensive, with a wide variety of dishes to choose from.
One of the standout dishes at Sakoon is the butter chicken, which is made with tender chunks of chicken in a creamy tomato sauce. The flavors are rich and perfectly balanced, making it a must-try for any fan of Indian food. Another popular dish is the lamb vindaloo, a spicy and tangy stew made with tender lamb and potatoes. The heat level can be customized to your preference, making it a great option for those who like things on the spicier side.
In addition to the entrees, Sakoon also offers a selection of appetizers and breads. The samosas, crispy pastries filled with spiced potatoes and peas, are a favorite among diners. The naan, a traditional Indian flatbread, is also a must-try. It's served hot and fresh, and is the perfect accompaniment to any of the dishes on the menu.
Overall, Sakoon Indian restaurant is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Indian dining experience. The food is top-notch and the service is friendly and attentive. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the...
Read moreThis review is for the management and the restaurant. I never got to try the food. I booked for 30 people for Eid buffet today. I had the most horrible experience. When I got there, we were asked to follow the server out of the main hall where the buffet was, through the back door, along a long, filthy, winding walkway, into a room that could be best described as a storage room converted into a dining space. There were no windows. There was a back door which opened to the smoking area. The room reeked of fecal matter because the bathrooms were next to it, and there was no ventilation. We politely asked if we could be moved to the front area. We had older and pregnant guests who couldn't walk the long walk through the corridors to the buffet spread. The restaurant opens at noon and we were there at noon. There were a lot of empty tables.
The Manager Valent M told us that those tables were reserved for guests. We asked them that we had reservation as well. Can you not seat us here as we are on time and move your other guests at the back please?
He refused so rudely saying that he will only offer us that back stinking, no ventilation store room. We felt very discriminated against.
This was an Eid event that I had reservation for for weeks. At no point I was told that we'd be shoved at the back. I had to take my 30 guests and scramble last minute to find a place.
This was the WORST display of customer service I have ever experienced or heard about. I will not be coming here again. Please don't choose this place for your...
