One of the last original 40's-50's "motor courts"--I think it pre-dates motels! Very tiny, but the paint is all fresh and everything was immacualate. Have stayed 3 times so far; my husband stayed for 2 weeks while I was in the hospital nearby. Not only is it the least expensive motel in the area, it is a straight shot 10 minutes up the street to Stanford Hospital, as well as very close to Stanford University. It does not have all of the amenities of a big box motel, but it does have charm and the manager and his wife are very kind and gracious people who obviously take a great deal of pride in keeping it up. The roses outside the rooms are truly outstanding! Personally, I prefer character to perfection as long as everything is clean, works, and is reasonably comfortable. Rooms have wi-fi and basic TV, cofee pot, mini frig, iron and ironing board and hair dryer. There are no enclosed closets (no room), but the rooms do have shelves, hangers, and a dresser. The bathrooms are very tiny (toilet and tub/shower combo), with a single sink outside the bathroom in the room itself. Our beds were quite firm (which I like) and the sheets and other linens and towels were clean. The AC was a bit noisy but worked fine. The rooms were very quiet at night. I would definitely recommend this motel, with the caveat that it is going to be a step back in time, and if you want everything to be really modern you won't be happy. I love it, though, and we are planning to stay again in a couple of months. I have stayed at a number of other motels in the area, and I like this one the best! Note to one of the other posters--yes, there is an extra charge for a second person, as well as another charge for a second bed. This is standard in every hotel or motel I have ever stayed at, at least if you are honest about the number of guests....I think most adults are...
Read moreOMG!!! My husband is working in the area and he booked this hotel for 3 nights.. he paid$270 a night.. he has a horrible room with the worst bed ever, the water pipes bang and woke him up at 4am.. he asked to be moved to another room away from the pipes and the street they said they were full and could not move him. I called to make a reservation and the lady said sure no problem.. offered me $198 a night for the same period of time that my husband is there.???WTF?? I thought they were full.. I called back to talk with her again, 5 min later and a guy answered and said she was gone for the day. I explained the situation to him and he said he couldn't do anything. I asked him to move my husband to a room with a better bed. He said he couldn't. He started yelling at me saying that I booked with a travel agency and he couldn't move my husband to a better room.. he asked me who would clean up the room.. he hung up on me when I was asking for the corporate number. I called back and asked for the number he said he didn't know it. He said look on the website. I already did and no info..When I asked him for his name he said Bill.. He was of India descent with a total accent. I don't think his name was Bill. The fact is they all lied.. there is only a handful of people there. I'm disgusted with him and the employees there.. the place stunk like poo my husband said.. when my husband asked them about the smell the lady said they are Indian and they are cooking food. I told "Bill" that I would write reviews reflecting the poor customer service and the horrible accommodations. He said go ahead.. My husband could have rented a cardboard box from a homeless person and been more comfortable. So "Bill" here ya go.. the first of many.. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!! the word "BUDGET" MEANS YOU GET WHAT THEY GIVE YOU. AND THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT...
Read moreHave stayed here 3 times, first when we found it, then my husband stayed for 2 weeks while I was having surgery at Stanford Hospital (which is a straight shot 10 minutes up the road), and again when we went up for a post-op visit to the clinic a couple of months later. It was clearly one of the original "motor courts" built in the 40's or 50's, and it quite small and basic, but everything is immaculate. Bob, the manager, and his wife are super nice and take obvious pride in keeping everything nice. They were so welcoming and gracious when we came back after I had my surgery! There are gorgeous roses outside of every room. The paint is all fresh, the sheets and beds were clean, as were the bathrooms. Our beds were on the very firm side, which is OK by me, but may not be for some. The only sink is outside of the (very tiny) bathroom (toilet plus tub/shower) and the coffee machine and mini frig are next to it. We did have a dryer, an iron and ironing board, a TV, phone, and wi-fi. There are no enclosed closets (no room), but there are shelves and hangers and a dresser. So, if you are looking for a standard big box motel with all the amenities, you won't find it here. However, if you want to go back in time a few years and stay on the slightly minimalist side, this is perfect. It was exactly what we needed and wanted, and the price was the lowest I found in the area as well. The rooms were very quiet at night. There are lots of restaraunts as well as fast food of all types nearby. It is also very close to Stanford University. I loved this place and would definitely recommend it! We already plan on staying again in a...
