This was about BJ's Brewhouse, and I'm not sure how it got adjusted to The Avenue.
I want to start this by saying our server was really great. There's nothing I could say bad about the actual server, but the rest of our experience was quite below expectations. We tried to have our get together here a month ago, but when we called ahead were told they could not accommodate our group. We rescheduled our plans, and I called even more in advance this time: the Wednesday before our 2pm on Saturday trip. I made a reservation with the second person I spoke with by phone. When we arrived a few minutes before 2, there was no hostess. There were people in front of us waiting, and servers seemed to be everywhere milling around, but no one acknowledged the people in front of us for at least 7 minutes. When they were seated, the hostess greeted us. I advised of our reservation, which she said no one had told her about... but they had available space. She told us it would take 20 minutes to prepare our tables. That seemed like quite a long time, but we were courteous and chatted while we waited. As I said, our server was great. They took our orders and appeared to not only be serving but also occasionally bartending (even though we were not seated near the bar). Our drinks stayed full, and they checked on us periodically. That being said, I ordered chips and salsa and chips and guac for the table and an Old Fashioned for me. Honestly, probably the worst Old Fashioned I've ever had. It wasn't even the right color, but I could tell they did use my requested bourbon. It tasted like they added some strange fake fruit spritzer to it or something. I did not order a second. The guac was barely guac. A quarter of an avocado sat whole in the bottom. It hadn't been salted at all, I think, and had no citrus flavor at all. The salsa was smoky tasting and decent, but not amazing. The chips were very close to fully stale. Other comments on the food and drink included an over toasted bun and another drink that was just straight vodka (which of course you would order if you wanted it straight ...). They seemed to be really busy, so I really hope the disappointment was just mine, but I'm not really motivated to give them...
Read moreI lived in the Boro for 15 yrs and I watched as. The countryside was transformed in to the Avenues, I have shopped in several of the shop's, ate in several of the great restaurants, and even bought tires across the street, at each place I have been to in the Avenues I had great service with great products the only time I had any problems was at longhorns, as I walked in with a guy I met on a job site, we were instantly asked to leave and not come back, when I asked why the hostess pointed at the guy I was with and said you can come back any time with out him but please don't come back with him.
I could not get a answer from her or the guy I was with as to what had happened to cause us to be thrown out, but later as we worked at the same sight for some time, I came to a understanding of why we were told to leave and not return, he was a ass and just add liquor and the hole part of his ass came to the surface, that was my answer.
I took my wife their for dinner later on and we had a great time, great food, kinda pricey but was worth it.
The moral to this review is, don't take a ass with you to the Avenues and you too should have a...
Read moreShopping center with almost every type of shop imaginable. Clothing, jewelry, electronics, finger nails and hair, and specialty food are just a few of the places you can shop. Fast food is mostly around in the outbuildings, so if you want cheaper food after a shopping binge you may have to drive a few minutes. Security is on site and conducts regular patrols with a focus on catching shoplifters and preventing double parking (which we all hate). I was there on a Monday night and it was raining, so there were fewer people shopping. Speaking of rain, there's no roof or rain shelter between stores, so if it's raining you have to tote an umbrella everywhere. Food inside the shopping area is also higher end, with...
