My wife and I reserved for 6 nights. We normally stay at the Hilton Garden Inn but it was booked. What a mistake selecting this hotel.
The front office staff is very nice but one individual (Nate) was not accommodating. After listening to the doors slamming from other rooms until past midnight for a couple nights (bar closes at 11pm), I decided that at 12:30 am to go see the front desk and ask for another room on the top floor, if possible. The front office clerk was very helpful, apologizing for the noise and offering another room when cleaned in the morning. He just said to check in with the front desk when we were ready to move to the other room.
Upon returning from a late breakfast and some errands, it is 1:30 pm and Nate is the front office clerk and tells us there isn't a room available. Condescending in his tone, I decided to let it go, never to come back, and to write an in-depth review of our experience. Here it goes....
The doors on the rooms are heavy and make an incredibly loud noise when they close. If you are thinking about getting some sleep, bring earplugs or a headset that you can fall asleep to. While they have some food available for breakfast, it is 5 grades below McDonalds. Want a great breakfast? Head down to Goodness Gracious in Murfreesboro or First Watch in Franklin. Incredible food, well-priced, and the service is excellent at both establishments. Cleanliness. The floor supervisor should be ashamed of the work done on these rooms. This is a newer hotel. The shower doors have lime deposits as if never cleaned. The bathroom floor doesn't get cleaned as there is hair and dirt from previous guests. When our bed was changed, the remote was inside the cover and it got thrown onto the floor where I found it upon our return. Water deposits on all fixtures and the mirrors. Pathetic.
I would much rather give a glowing review but Hyatt Place doesn't deserve it. I would suggest looking elsewhere.
After writing this review, I decided to check the availability of a room with a king size bed (same day, 9:15 pm). The Hyatt website indicates they are available and a further indication that the front desk (Nate) lied to me about another room not being available to switch to. Dishonest!
It is now the next day and we just returned to our room after being out most of the day. After requesting our room to be cleaned when we left this morning (guess who the request was made with - Nate), we return to find it had never been touched. What a coincidence! Nate has failed again to supply the quality of service that I would hope this hotel would like to achieve. We did mention this to the young lady at the front desk (Kaydance) who was beyond helpful in supplying clean towels for the room. Kaydance was apologetic, kind, and professional in addressing our concerns. This young lady should seek employment at a Waldorf Astoria or a Belmond hotel. I would hope the hotel management reads this and recognizes the efforts of Kaydance and rewards her properly. Nate must be 30 years senior to Kaydance, yet she was the one who supplied the kind of service that only comes with experience and integrity....
Read moreWe've stayed here several times over the past three years as it's very convenient to my mom's home and pet friendly. Up until this time, it has always been a great option. Sadly, it is markedly different now. Cleanliness of rooms is definitely way down. Food service is not as good and not a single English speaking employee in the the food service who can assist with food ingredients and allergies. No menus to look at to review ingredients. Breakfast was stressful every morning. Asked on our third day to have our room cleaned because apparently they no longer do that unless you ask, and was met with a plethora of questions about "what kind of cleaning?" I would like. I found this very odd. I want standard cleaning. I want my towels refreshed, my showers and bathroom sink cleaned, my floors vacuumed, and replacement of amenities like tissue. I mean, standard hotel cleaning. I was told that if I had left anything on my bed they "wouldn't touch it". I was rather appalled by all of this. I miss the days when cleaning hotel rooms was part of the standard services offered and I certainly don't think there should be "tiers" or levels of cleaning. It's very obvious now why the rooms are beginning to look worn and dirty. After returning for the day, the only thing done was making the bed and putting new towels in the room. Floors weren't vacuumed, bathroom floor had the same cobwebs that were there upon check in. Our shower door also didn't stay shut and the water pressure is way too strong. These things I would overlook if the other issues weren't so bad. It is really ridiculous to have very few English speaking employees in the kitchen area. At least one person would be acceptable and make a notebook with ingredient lists for customers who need to know what they are eating. Amber is the only bright spot as she was pleasant and helpful on each occasion that we encountered her. Apparently there is new ownership and it shows,...
Read moreRooms nice and clean. Unfortunately, management of this seem to have some odd autocratic policies. ||1) Pool was closed for kids? Not just closed without adult supervision but restricted all kids outrights (see sign). We werent there as part of any team group so why is my kid penalized with a blanket ban. Not sure what country the owners are from where they think this might be reasonable sort of authority to wield, but its just a bizarre policy. I paid $1000 for my visit so my kid should be able to use the pool on a week with 100 degree weather without feeling like an outlaw. ||2) COVID WAS 5 YEARS AGO! Its been years since I encountered a hotel where room service was not standard. Here, its apparently by request only but no one tells you at check in that you need to request it. I did request it then but never got room service on day one of my visit. ||3) The shade/blinds were totally inadequate and let in a ton of morning light. Even basic hotels have decent shades or curtains.||4) ASHLEY totally unreasonable. The manager Ashley was smarmy and chose not tell provide any flexibility in terms of early checkout even though a multiple day visit and gave plenty of notice and it was totally within her discretion. SHe changed story on what their policy was (2 days, 1 day, discretion etc) and was smarmy about refusing to even consider it, even when I indicated desire to check out early about 2 hours after their supposed deadline. I have cancelled last days of a multiple day stay dozens of times at similar hotels and never experienced a hotel that woudlnt waive the last day if one was providing notice on teh prior day (befor etheir check in time next day). We stay in the area every year but next year its the Hampton Suites for sure. ||Other than those issues the rooms were...
