Last night we visited Treasure Island with family and friends after dinner. When we entered the office the smell of cigarette smoke was very strong. The lady working at the desk was more interested in watching the NFL game she had on a small television behind the desk than helping her customers. All that was easily over looked, then we went outside to begin playing. We were all standing at Hole #1 and I was the last person in our group waiting. The lady from the desk came outside and started screaming in front of everyone on the course “YOU CANNOT HAVE A DOG HERE!!” to me and my very clearly vested and labeled service dog! (Note: my service dog and myself were in the office during the check in, golf club/ball selection process, so either she was so distracted by her football game on TV or my SD was so well behaved she didn’t notice her …. I’m going to go with BOTH!) I responded to her yelling at me letting her know that she that was a medically tasked service dog to which the lady ROLLED HER EYES at me and then screamed “WELL YOU BETTER KEEP HER UNDER CONTROL!!” ….. I was dumbfounded as my SD was on leash and sitting/waiting by my side, completely under control! The only slight “mis” behavior my dog exhibited when we first went outside was excitement over seeing the golf balls and she quietly whined for a moment, until she was told “Quiet and leave it” … it was a training opportunity for her and a correction that was quickly and effectively made. The lady was EXTREMELY rude and yelled several more times at me to make sure she was “Under Control!” …. It was extremely embarrassing as everyone on the course stopped and looked at us! This was not good for my heart rate and blood pressure, both of which directly impact my condition. I am always more than happy to answer the questions legally required by the ADA, but this lady was not interested in following those protocols. I am sure this business could care less about this review or the fact that we will not return for future business, but so just wanted to put this out there as a warning for other disabled customers who require...
Read moreI typically come to treasure island whenever I visit myrtle beach. It’s one of the nicest mini golf courses in the area. However, the last experience was very upsetting.
I drove all the way to the location on Sunday evening around 7 pm. There were ppl finishing up on hole 18 and as I tried to open the door to pay I noticed it was locked. I saw a lady at the front desk and she wouldn’t come to unlock the door. I checked on line where it indicated the course was open until 10 pm. I decided to call and when the lady answered the phone she was incredibly rude and hung up on me. She said it’s too cold and she’s closing the course.
I decided to go down the road to Captain Hooks mini golf where I was greeted by a very friendly gentleman who was the exact opposite of the rude and off-putting woman at treasure island.
My recommendation is to avoid this place and head to captain hooks or spy glass...
Read moreThe holes are easy enough to play, as they are all par 2, yet still somewhat challenging. My wife and I had fun when we visited. It was a Friday night, so it was extremely crowded. But even at that, we didn't wait a terribly long time for other families/groups in front of us to finish.
One thing to keep in mind, they tell you to take only one ball per player. A few of the holes do have water hazards and traps on them, and if you accidentally hit your ball in some of them (which my wife did... lol), you won't be able to retrieve it. You'll either have to go all the way back to the front desk to get another ball, play with one less ball in your group, or in our case, hope that the family in front of you has an extra one and gives it to you.
It's Myrtle Beach, so nothing's "cheap". But the price of admission was justifiable based on our experience. We would definitely come...
