I've been a customer for about 2 to 3 years, and at first it was great. It helped me a great deal with my meltdowns, flashbacks, depression and anxiety. However, recent changes has made me no longer enjoy going, which is terrible considering how much the old layout helped me so much. It was one of the few places I could go for some much needed stress relief.
For me, this arcade was a lot more than a place to go for fun and games. It was therapeutic! I'd like to know why these changes occured.
In the old layout, the pinball machines were in the room that now has exclusively arcade games and DanceRush. I really enjoyed being out there with other players as it livened up the atmosphere hearing children screaming with excitement (any of you who have seen these videos on my YouTube channel will agree).
The lights from the other arcade games such as DanceRush helped me to see the ball on a few of my favorites. Now they have been moved into another room where the windows are permanently covered, and all lights are turned off. Now I get eye strain and headaches trying to play the pinball machines.
Not only that but they are segregated from the action. I used to go here as a source of stress relief, and this arcade helped me during times when I was thinking I'd be better off never existing. Being out with the kids and being able to see what I was doing was fantastic at warding off my post traumatic stress, panic attacks, low self esteem, and sense of being worthless, but now with the new layout, going there has only amplified these negative thought patterns.
I've had some flashbacks and bouts of panic in the new room. Being around the flashy lights, the kids, and in a noisier atmosphere, it helped to ease my anxiety and depression. Now it feels more like solitary confinement and I no longer get much enjoyment out of going.
I am also deeply, deeply disappointed with the realization this may be a permanent thing. My dad and myself also felt safer with the old layout as he could see the monitors showing the restrooms if I had to use them, now he cannot, which makes me feel less safe. The pinball machines are also way too close to the exit for me to feel safe. This of course has been a trigger for me.
I have tried to mention this kindly to the staff, to no avail. I'm concerned about the treatment of other customers as well. If people have complaints yet the staff does nothing, this isn't a good model for the business. Poor customer service is typically a downfall for businesses and shows a lack of respect of the customers, new and old.
I have decided to only make one more visit and not go back until the machines I have trouble seeing (only four) are moved out into the arcade area, and the camera monitors are out in a more accessible location and we feel safer going.
I have been so upset by this that after going there and expressing my concerns, it's left me crying uncontrollably for hours, even as I write this. I know it sounds stupid, but that is how much it meant to me.
I don't think my life will be quite the same with these renovations in place.
Way to take a great song and make it downright grim. I really hope they change this. Why did they decide to put the pinball machines in such a dark room? Why did they take them out of the...
Read moreI live in Denver and visit twice a month to spend time with my 7 year old son, not one of those visits doesn't have at least 1 visit to Jeremy's, usually multiple stops in even just over a weekend. I leave very few reviews, fairly certain I haven't cracked double digits, but seeing Jeremy's with a 4.8, and not a 5.0+, is sufficient motivation for me to type something up.
The best part isn't that it's extremely, like ridiculously so, cheap- it's the genuine, quality fun that you can have for that cost of playing like one game at Wahooz, Dave & Buster's and the like.
We actually were at D&Bs today and conversely, it's not the cost, it's the quality of experience, it's not the best for me. Besides always making sure you have your card, or more importanly, your kid's card, you have to math up for tickets to prize ratios and noise and crap and and and. But the worse is just how you waste without even realizing. At least twice today at D&Bs a game charged me and then didn't activate. Yes, yes, I'm not basic and checked everything and verified the charge. Yes, I could have told them and got the 7.7 chips back (what's up with '.' for a chip amount, kidding, I know the reasons why) but is it worth it. Then how many times did it do it to me that I didn't catch. More impactful, how many times to my kid? I assume a lot because there was a period where I went to the restroom and answered a call, 7 minutes total tops, that the math is extremely skewed.
This long winded, definitely my longest, review is to say go to Jeremy's, don't think about it, just go. I mean he just raised his prices an insanely 25% and it is now $5 to get in all day, to play at will. It's awesome.
I started typing this before we headed over, it was late. We arrived at the arcade at 11pm, an hour before closing (yes, I AM that cool of a dad :) ). I fully intended to pay, even an hour at $5 isn't a big deal. Jeremy just said not to worry about it even as I insisted to pay.
There are not hidden costs, 'Supercharging' of cards (which even the D&B employee said was just more chips, then just call it that) or additional streams of revenue he is angling for, I just assume he is a really nice guy and literally doing a service for the community. If our government were as effiifcent at returning value for our tax dollar we actually would be the richest nation in the world. I'm a capitalist and have no issue if there were other hidden costs, we're adults, usually, and can pick what to spend our money on, spend it at Jeremy's and actually help our...
Read moreOne of the Idaho Rhythm Group's favorite hangout spots for a reason--just $5 a day or $20 a month for unlimited play, the only publicly known maimai and WACCA cabs in driving distance, and a welcoming atmosphere that I would describe as almost homey if not for all the arcade cabinets lining the walls. Even if you're not a rhythm gamer of any sort, you'll find a wide array of pins and classic/imported and mostly localized games. If you absolutely must have redemption, this isn't the place for you. But if you're looking to have a bit of good, clean fun with a community of like-minded people, the regulars here will take you in with open arms. And all without destroying your bank account. There's no such thing as perfection, but JDA comes damn close.
Brotip for maimai / WACCA first-timers: bring a basic pair of gloves. They'll help reduce friction and soften impacts. Any old cotton or similar glove you have kicking around should work--it's so sensitive that you don't even need those fancy tips on the fingers to register touch inputs. Grabbing an AIME card from the vending machine may also be a worthwhile investment if you find yourself hooked. Help getting everything set up is also relatively...
