I stopped by my neighborhood game store to show my support and also to trade in a few games.
Upon entering the store, I was met with a disconcerting scene: four employees idling about while only one other customer browsed the shelves. Despite the conspicuous lack of activity, none of the staff made any effort to acknowledge my presence or offer assistance. With three of them seemingly lost in their own worlds, I found myself standing at the threshold, unsure of whom to approach with my trade-ins. It was a stark contrast to the warm and inviting atmosphere I had hoped for.
Feeling somewhat unwelcome and uncertain, I hesitated, clutching my games in hand. It wasn't immediately clear who would be responsible for evaluating my items or even engaging with me as a customer. After what felt like an awkward eternity, one of the employees finally glanced in my direction and asked how they could assist me. By then, the initial excitement of supporting a local business had waned, replaced by a sense of frustration and confusion.
After handing the games to the employee and already anticipating a moderate offer for my trade-ins, I was taken aback by what greeted me: a downright insulting appraisal. It was disheartening to hear the staff initially express reluctance, almost as if they were doing me a favor by even considering my items. To add salt to the wound, when they finally made an offer, it was far below what I had expected, making me question whether my time and loyalty were valued at all. It's disheartening when a place you want to support treats you with such disregard.
The lack of proactive customer service combined with the disappointing trade-in offer left me questioning the value of my patronage. In an environment where community support is vital, it's disheartening to feel overlooked and undervalued as a customer. This experience serves as a reminder of the importance of fostering genuine connections and providing exemplary service, especially in small businesses where every customer interaction can make a significant impact.
As a customer who values the local gaming community, I had hoped for a more respectful and fair exchange. This experience has left me feeling disillusioned and less inclined to continue supporting this particular...
Read moreThe store itself was awesome. When we went in there, we were instantly taken back to our childhood. Prices were fair and there was a lot to look at.
Where I had a problem, it was a particular person who had some form of direct ties to the store. We had looked around and found something my boyfriend knew our daughter would love so we were going to buy it for her. We picked it up and continued looking at stuff. While we were looking, there were some very personal opinions loudly shared on police officers... from a former LEO himself.
Now don't get me wrong, I respect that everyone has an opinion of their own and I respect the fact that you disliked your job, but these opinions don't belong in a business for your customers to hear. Normally, if it were another customer saying these things, it wouldn't bother me and I would just move on with my day... HOWEVER, the man who was buying this item from your store, supporting your small business, is an active LEO. We just looked at each other and I saw all the excitement he had about this whole experience melt away. If it were up to me, we would have put the item back and walked out, however he knew how much out daughter would love it so he went ahead and spent the money anyway. I had saved this store as a special trip for when we finally had a day off of work together and it ended up being a disappointment. Just remember, the people you are talking negative about are the same people who are supporting YOUR small business and making it possible for you.
If this wouldn't have happened, it would have been a 5...
Read moreoverpriced pokemon. updated my review from 3 stars to 1 star based on their poor feedback. i don't care if your business is "local", prices should still be competitive. nobody is going to pay you more just because you're "local". if the price of pokemon cards change constantly, which i agree they do, then perhaps it's a bad business model and you shouldn't be investing in a children's card game.
another update based on their updated poor feedback: leaving bad reviews is not "review bombing", i stated a simple fact that you don't have competitive pricing. no need to cry. check out my other reviews if you want. you'll see i also leave good reviews, so you can cry about it some more i guess.
another edit: i did not repost this review because this review was never removed by google. i simply updated it, which updates the time it was posted. i have a computer science degree so i might know a little more about how the internet works than you do. go ahead and file a police report for "harassment" because you are mad i left a bad review. it's not illegal to post my opinion of your prices online and it's not illegal for me to respond to your response lmao. but go ahead and try to file a report. you'll be laughed out of the room. to imply that i would have anything to do with your business being vandalized is libel. i'm going to forward this entire exchange to the Federal...
