Ulta Beauty — Attraction in Napa

This review is for Esmeralda! I was getting married in Napa but as a DIY bride—aka someone offered their house for us to get married in for free) Naturally, I wasn’t about to fork over thousands of dollars for a Napa MUA, so I decided to just do my own makeup. Hair, on the other hand, I knew I couldn’t do, so I decided to just go to Ulta. I also needed to cover up this embarrassing back tattoo I had.

Everyone I told this plan to was basically, like, “Uhhhh, are you sure?” And boy, did Esmeralda prove them wrong. My hair looked great, my tattoo was COMPLETELY COVERED UP. Literally no one in my family could even tell I had a secret huge colorful tattoo and I was wearing a backless dress.

It was a very frustrating experience unfortunately as I absolutely love this store and I’m a platinum member! I order my birthday package online (online because the birthday gifts in store just didn’t feel as inclusive as I’d like for being African American) the package had the wrong address on it and I corrected it via email. Ulta didn’t respond till 3 days after it was delivered then proceeded to tell me there was nothing they could do nor give me a refund. I called the address it was delivered to and they claim they don’t have it. So now I’m an unhappy customer. I hope Ulta fixes this problem in the future. If not with me than with some other unfortunate soul this befalls upon. Also customer service was nice but unfortunately they just kept repeating...

I can’t say enough good things about the service I got at this store- I felt so lucky to have Gina style my hair before a wedding out of town- not only is she amazing at hair, she is totally lovely, funny and kind. She went totally above and beyond, and put so much care and effort in ensuring I got exactly the style I wanted- she made the experience so enjoyable. I also got exceptional service from the MAC artist, Niki. I didn’t even decide to have any makeup done until that morning, but she squeezed me in without an appointment ,also gave me the exact natural glam look I wanted, and I loved her warm, spectacular personality.
