I have been to quite a few museums but WOULD NOT RECOMMEND anyone here.Went to this museum with friends for her birthday and we ended up leaving without finishing the tour. We were constantly being followed as though we stole something. I broke away from our small group of 7 just to observe the monitoring of other guest. There was a family there with two smaller children. No employee monitored them. Children were in one room hands on walls while parents snapped pictures in the next room. No employee quickly ran to watch. Another couple dragged through rooms cuddling and laughing sitting on the benches and taking very close looks, no one followed. We stated becoming very agitated by their behavior but continued viewing the art and commenting on the pieces. Employees seemed as though they were prompted from the ear pieces in their ear which move we were making to keep track. Some employees like Venessa seemed disgusted and did not respond as we said hello passing by. The final draw was noticing an older employee also keeping an eye on us, we’re taking pictures of my friends as they left the room with her phone. The first time she snapped us I thought she was trying to see something on her phone. Then in the next room I see her turn her body and phone sideways to snap them as they left. I said it out loud to my friends that she snapped them, she then got up and quickly walked away. We then went to the desk at the entrance and let them know what just happened but they all disguised the matter and did...
Read moreI give it an: 'Ehhhhh' . Though a pretty amazing story... Was a debt free philharmonic within about 10 years of its founding I believe due to extraordinary fundraising of Myra Daniels and the affluence of Naples. Now the problem.. The pricing, and programing that been limited to old standards and tired acts (think Paul Anka or ZZ Top) that have been doing the circuit for 30 years have kept this institution more as an exclusive club for the older, myopic Midwest affluent. When the Phil was founded Naples was much smaller and highly seasonal. The affluent that could escape to Naples for 3+momths needed something to do in a town lacking culture and the Phil served as an exclusive club where they could plug into their clan. Though... I think there may be a light at the end of the tunnel. A new conductor and programing director the last few years have Oh so slowly began introducing nontraditional works and doing an OK job of not rocking the boat for the old tired supporters and not getting their hats handed to them. Last season 2016 they slipped in the Water Concerto before two old standards... I was stunned, couldn't believe I was at the Phil. An amazing piece and shows hope for the...
Read moreBeware of "Family Friendly" events. My family & I arrived for a holiday music event and were denied entry because we didn't have a ticket for my INFANT under 1 who will be sitting on my lap. Ridiculous, but ok we went to the ticket booth to buy a ticket for the infant only to be told the event is sold out and I now had to pay the price of a premium seat for the baby. I explained my disappointment to staff about having to pay the price of a premium seat for a baby whos not even going to sit in the seat...but the response I received was rude, dismissive & surly. I've never felt so unwelcome at a venue. Due to all this, we missed the beginning of the show and the rude staff completely ruined our experience to the point that we left during intermission. As we were leaving during intermission, the head of staff told us they reviewed the situation and credited us some of the price of the premium seat for the baby. Nice gesture but a little too late. Our experience was already ruined. Money down the drain. Will...
