Family Hobby Center — Attraction in Naples

If I could put zero stars on here I would. The women in this store were ABSOLUTELY THE RUDEST I have ever encountered with my children. They were like hover people over my little boys who were very nicely playing with the dinosaurs they had on display at child age level. They played very politely with the seemingly inviting toys at the cash register. In any other small store those toys would be welcomed for children t o explore with while shopping. At the end, they put a toy in our purchase that I did not intend to play and I told her that. She then said, "Children need to know when they play with something, they must buy it." I had told her the toy was already opened when we got there, which it was. That did not matter. I told her for that response we would be coming back. She then said, "Good because you have not your children to behave well in a store." Then they DENIED ME my purchase. Qould not let us buy the product. I seriously do not ever recommend people brining their children here. I will never support them again. My boys were being little boys. This business needs to post a sign indicating that customers who don’t share the management’s political views are not welcome. That may sound odd in a review of an art and hobby supply store. Let me explain.

I was glad to find this locally-owned art and hobby supply store in Naples, but after two very different experiences, I will not be shopping there ever again. I prefer to spend my money at family-owned businesses and on my first visit I found the customer service and supplies selection to be quite good. Unfortunately when I returned to the store today, I waited to pay for my purchases, cash in hand, for several minutes. It became clear I was being intentionally ignored and was not welcome in the store. Nevertheless, I persisted, and eventually got someone to take my money.

I was totally perplexed by this total about face in customer service from one visit to another. Then it dawned on me that I was wearing a “Power to the Polls” T-shirt since I had just come from the Naples Women’s March. I can only assume it was this clear evidence of my political beliefs that caused the staff at Family Hobby Center to snub me in this way. I will...

Went today 10/9/23 as I did not know this place even existed. My father was a huge hobbyist and had several RC cars / trucks etc he would work on. Well I guess the itch finally found me because I've wanted to start looking, and build and play with my kids. My 1 star review is solely based on the fact that I could not visit this store because they are closed during regular business hours and not during their posted closed dates for inventory. I have an extremely difficult time buying from a company or store that wastes my time. A quick update to the website or Google could have saved me the trip. I suppose a phone call could have, however the expectation is you are open when you say you're open. Too bad I was looking forward to it.
