YEEEEE-HAW! Lost Cowboy Brewing Company lives up to the hype! We went early (4pm) on a Friday night, and we weren't disappointed. After entering, we were greeted right away. The building inside is insanely amazing. Super cool Western decorations and probably one of the biggest bars I've ever seen. All staff decked out in different cowboy hats and boots. We sat outside overlooking Round Pond; what a view! (See photo). Our server, Jake, was outstanding. He was genuine, attentive, and anticipated our needs before asking. We both got the Ranch Water to drink, sure it might seem like a boring choice, but that was just one of many radical drinks on the very long drink menu (see photo for drink list as of 5/1). As a tequila drinker, I was pleased by how many different options they had. For our choice of apps and dinner, we decided to go after items we don't normally get excited for. First, we did buffalo cauliflower to start. The flavors were out of this world: I do not like cauliflower but when smothered in buffalo sauce and blue cheese...it was to die for. Then we got our main event: wings, cobb salad, side of pickles, and collard greens. Again, this was an eclectic grouping of items to put Lost Cowboy to the test and let's discuss: the cobb salad was a huge wedge of iceberg lettuce with bacon, corn, brisket (+$), etc. and the house ranch. We added on the brisket since pulled pork is easier to cook. I lived in North Carolina for 15 years, and this was one of the best briskets we've EVER had. It was juicy and not dried out, exactly what a brisket calls for. Great balance of lean and fat. The wings I ordered specifically for the sauce - I think it was called the house golden sauce? Outstanding. Not overdone and priced right. Now the sides: my wife got the sweet and spicy pickles. They were sliced razor thin with big pieces of onion. Loved it. Now the item we had no clue about: the bacon braised collard greens? Oh MAN. Great flavor! Earthy undertones with bacon to push this over into savory. Before we left the manager, Doug, came by the table to ensure everything went great. Overall, it was one of the best dining experiences for a brewery and BBQ joint. Last note: the folks at the table next to us got the 2 inch prime rib - it looked like a dinosaur bone! Next time, we're definitely trying it. Pros: amazing food, service, atmosphere. Cons? Not many, but...it's busy! Great sign, could even be a pro. Parking lot will fill up and you will probably wait for seating unless you have more than 7 people - after that number you can make a reservation. They have a well run front end so even if you have to wait, tables turn over fairly quickly. Easy to get to: right on 101. Close to Merrimack, Milford, Amherst, and even Mass. Get moseying to Lost...
Read moreWe recently celebrated my husband's birthday at Lost Cowboy and had a wonderful evening. While online reviews vary widely, I've always found it important to form my own opinion based on personal experience. My friends often come to me for restaurant recommendations, so I was eager to share my thoughts after our visit.
While the wait times can be long, especially for larger parties(Sometimes up to 3 hours), we were seated promptly with our reservation for 7 and our server was attentive and friendly.
The restaurant's ambiance is inviting, with both indoor and outdoor seating options. The ample parking lot was a convenient bonus. Our appetizers were delicious, with the barbecue ends and onion rings being particular favorites. The drinks were also excellent, with a selection of beers on tap.
The main courses were cooked to perfection. The ribs were tender and flavorful, the brisket was juicy, and the beans were savory. The cucumber salad was a pleasant surprise, and the fries were delicious. However, the cornbread was a bit inconsistent, with some pieces being dry or burnt but others being moist.
For dessert, I ordered the banana pudding brûlée, which was not quite what I expected. While it was enjoyable for those who prefer brûlée, it didn't quite live up to my expectations of banana pudding.
One minor detail was that we had mentioned the occasion of my husband's birthday when making the reservation. While it would have been nice to receive some acknowledgment or a special touch, it didn't detract from our overall experience.
A highlight of our visit was our interaction with the manager, Mark. He was incredibly friendly and personable, and he took the time to chat with us about our experience. When I mentioned that my son with autism had enjoyed the ribs, Mark was genuinely pleased and expressed his commitment to providing a welcoming atmosphere for all customers.
Overall, we had a fantastic meal. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was inviting. Thanks to the manager's friendly demeanor and the overall quality of the experience, I immediately texted two of my friends to share my positive review. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to others and look forward to returning...
Read moreAfter multiple visits to Lost Cowboy Brewing Company, I wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, it just doesn’t quite hit the mark for me. The location and concept have a lot of potential, but there are a few key areas that have left me underwhelmed.
First, parking is a bit tricky. You have to drive through another business’s lot to get to theirs, which might be an issue depending on the direction you're coming from or your GPS. It wasn’t a huge deal, but it’s something to be aware of.
Once inside, the space is big, open, and offers some fun entertainment options like cornhole and shuffleboard, which is a nice touch if you're waiting for a seat or enjoying drinks with friends. The bar area is spacious, but it fills up quickly on busy nights. There are no reservations, so it’s walk-ins only, which means you may face a bit of a wait, especially on weekends.
The service is generally friendly, but I can’t say the same about the bartenders. On a few occasions, they seemed distracted or inattentive, which impacted the overall experience. The hosts and servers, however, were warm and welcoming, so it wasn’t a total loss in the service department.
When it comes to the food and drinks, this is where things start to fall short. While the presentation of both food and drinks is well-executed, the taste doesn’t live up to expectations. The mixed drinks often feel poorly balanced—not quite the right proportions of flavors—and the food, while decent, doesn’t impress. The salads, for example, are drenched in dressing, so I’d recommend asking for it on the side if you're not into that.
The wings, however, were a bright spot. Crispy, juicy, and full of flavor, they’re definitely the saving grace of the menu. But aside from that, the food overall feels like it’s just “okay”—not bad, but certainly not exceptional.
Overall, while I appreciate the space and the casual vibe, after a few tries, I’m not convinced this place is for me. The food and drinks need improvement, and until then, I’ll likely be exploring...
