As a concerned family member of a Fisk University student, I am deeply troubled by the way some of the administrative staff seem to misuse their positions of power. It’s becoming clear that certain staff members are more focused on creating unnecessary obstacles for students than supporting them in their academic and personal growth.
The countless stories of students being bullied, antagonized, or treated with disrespect by those who are supposed to be guiding and assisting them are alarming. What should be a place of encouragement, empowerment, and opportunity is instead becoming an environment where students feel belittled and disrespected, all too often without reason or justification.
The university must do better. It’s unacceptable for students to face these challenges when they are simply trying to succeed in their education. The administrative staff’s role should be to support and facilitate students’ journeys, not hinder them with unnecessary struggles.
As a family member, I stand with the students who deserve a fair and supportive environment, and I hope the administration will take these concerns seriously. It’s time for a change at Fisk University—one that puts the well-being and success of the...

The students should NOT have to live in these conditions. If they lived like that at home, they would've called children services. But we're paying thousands of dollars for tuition for this type of living conditions....
