Rating five stars because of the two distilleries and the winery that were open the week between Christmas and New Years. A couple of the shops were also open but mostly a lot of closed signs, including the sandwich shop. I was confused of what this place actually was from the web site and other reviews. It's a single long building with various stores inside with distilleries offering samples on either end (one with a good selection of beers on tap). We were told there are some vintage cars from Marathon across the street indoors, but we didn't venture there. Parking was free nearby on the street and if full, there was pay parking across the building. We parked for free under the bridge a little down the street. The employees at the winery and distillery were friendly and we enjoyed our tasting and drinking experiences there. Approached by two separate individuals asking for money immediately upon heading back outside, so not sure if that is a regular occurrence. If I lived here, I would bring visitors as it feels like something different...
Read moreThe brain child of one of the most amazing men I have had the privilege of meeting. Years of collecting displayed magnificently. It is quite mind-boggling all the things that are there to look at that has been collected from all over. I have never seen even the amount of pictures of vehicles and the machinery that is located at this place and there is no charge for going and looking. It drives traffic to all the little shops, distilleries Winery and everything else in the area. Absolutely amazing. Not only did you get to see the machinery and vehicles but the history behind it and how it was displayed I enjoyed all the little shops along the way obviously spending way more than headache on to a museum but at least I have something to show for it. Go it was one of my favorite things of everything I did when I was there. If I had a chance to go back, I would definitely check out all the other shops that I had to pass on the first time even the deli was amazing at...
Read moreMarathon Automobiles was a auto manufacturer located in Nashville that operated from 1907-1914. When Marathon shutdown, they abandoned the factory overnight, still filled with equipment, parts, and partially completed cars, which then sat for decades.
Now, the site has been revitalized to a retail indoor shopping mall with a bunch of boutique-style stores featuring clothing, jewelry, art, souvenirs, and more. All of the stores are located on the first floor and are situated in hallways filled with memorabilia from the factory, honoring the unique history of the site.
There are a lot of treasures to be found here and all of the shop owners/operators are very friendly and personable.
My only gripe is that parking is not free, yet is in a rough, unfinished lot. That said, still a great place to...
