This is NOT authentic Ethiopian food. I should have gone to Thompson lane or Murfresseboro rd like i regularly do but this was closer since im ok West End. Even when the Gps had me turn into a modern day food hall I wasn’t deterred the slightest bit. All I wanted and had my mind set on for days now was Ethiopian Food. A veggie plate. Let me also say that i’m 35 and in 2013 I worked as a manager at a hotel. One of my housekeepers whom I became close friends with was Ethiopian. One day I noticed she had a bowl that had potatoes cabbage spinach in it for lunch. At that point I never cared for spinach or cabbage but have always loved potatoes and the smell of what was coming from her bowl smelled insanely good. [ Bear with me there is a point to be made in this story. ] - My housekeeper than went got a plate and shared her lunch with me. When I tasted this it changed my life! The potatoes, the cabbage, the spinach were just like they smelled…. incredible! I had her make that meal for me once a week for the remaining time we were both there. After that I went to the Ethiopian restaurants on Nolensville pike and Murfreesboro road. My housekeeper made the best Ethiopian Food but those two restaurants were not far behind. I learned it’s just in the type of food they cook and how they cook it that makes Ethiopian food so good. The seasons are unmatched to any other cuisine. Also note the smell, I love the smell of the food [seasons] but my boyfriend hates it. He won’t give the food a try bc of it. Now that i’ve said all of that, I want to call of the review sites yelp and google. It’s no way the reviews on y’all’s sites for this restaurant are real. it’s no way that this restaurant has gotten over 2 stars let alone 4.9. It’s no way. Which really shocked me and is making me think differently of all review sites. Now on the restaurants site it’s has two 5 star ratings. Which are clearly not real but it’s expected. Didn’t expect it from Yelp and Google. Well Google a little but def not yelp!!! - The review; The Location: Remember when I said pulling into a modern day food hall didn’t deter me? [ 🚩] It should have. The Service: I give a 5/5. I had questions so while inside the building using their ordering app I gave the restaurant a call. A lady answered and her customer service was great. The Food: Got back into the car with my food and as I open the container [ 🚩 ] my food was served in my boyfriend says at least that DOESN’T SMELL as bad as usual. I said to myself he is right, I don’t smell anything at all [ 🚩 ]. At first I couldn’t tell the which was my cabbage and potatoes the potato salad [ 🚩 ] but I was so excited to finally eat that none of those things gave me hesitation to that first bite. After that first bite I was confused. As I continued to go through the motions of preparing for my each next bite, by bite 7 I put my fork down and just starred at the container of food. The cabbage, carrots and potatoes tasted plastic like. That’s the only word I can match with the taste. The red Lentils were dry as canned corn beef. Disappointed to say the VERY least. I was heartbroken honestly. I sat with my thoughts the rest of the way home. As I got home and decided that i had no choice but to write a review I realized another something else. So the place i went into to order and receive my food had about 6 to 8 different restaurants you can order from. It was also where the food is being prepared and than sat into the food hall version of amazon prime lockers to be served, HAD NO SMELL OF FOOD AT ALL! -...
Read moreI am unsure as to what happened with my order today. I have been a repeat customer to injera for quite some time but today my order was an absolute disaster. The first time this has ever happened to me when ordering from here. I usually receive a text saying your order is ready around the pickup time provided by street Injera. Today we arrived and 5 minutes later we were still waiting outside and I never received a text. I tried calling and texting but no response. The lady finally came out several minutes later with our food. She seemed extremely rushed and confused. She went back and forth between our car and another car twice saying she mixed the orders up.I was extremely confused. I ordered the platter with one meat and two veggies, chicken samosas, side of white rice and extra injera. I asked for the meat to be spicy on my platter but not the veggies. When I opened the bag, they made a platter with spicy meat and spicy veggies and then realized after the fact so they added a side of non spicy veggies in a seperate container. My injera was missing completely. I had to flag her down outside to tell her my injera was missing. She asked me to check in the bag again. I took out all the contents to show her there was no injera. She went inside for another 5-7 minutes while we waited on her to bring the injera. At this point we were very frustrated. As we left, I opened the food to eat and the meat was absolutely horrible. It tasted rotten and sour with a very bad taste. This is unusual, as I have eaten this same meat dish from injera several times before. I also ordered the potato salad which is usually so delicious! Today it was absolutely inedible. It was completely different and had some weird sauce on it. I used to rave about this salad before on how good it was and unfortunately today both the meat and the salad was inedible. I had to throw away my entire meal bc of how bad the food tasted. I am so disappointed as I’ve even driven here to eat when I lived in Kentucky as it was so loved! After todays visit I...

Important bits: Absolutely delicious! Not what I would call "counter-serve"; it's one building with one take-out window housing multiple restaurant kitchens and there are a few picnic tables outside Friendly owner/chef Tasty vegan/vegetarian options
Delicious! My wife and I were so pleased with the food. We came because it was my birthday and drove ~45 minutes up from the Columbia area to get here. Our intended destination was actually another restaurant but due to poor planning on our part we were going to arrive after the kitchen closed so we pivoted to Street Injera because it was open later. What a happy accident that was!
We ordered both vegan and meat options and were delighted with all of them—I found the yellow lentils particularly tasty. We hadn't had Ethiopian food since we moved out of a major metro area more than a year ago and this restaurant definitely scratched the itch we had for those warm and spicy Ethiopian flavors and the tang of injera.
Once we put our order in through the website, we waited just a few minutes more than the order tracker's estimate. And I certainly can't complain about that because the owner, who came out from behind the pick up window to hand over the food and asked whose birthday it was, seemed to have spent those few minutes adding some extra sambusas to our order!
tl;dr: delicious food, caring owner, no...
