I rarely leave reviews, but my recent experience at the Ford Ice Center at Bellevue warranted such review. My wife and I tried to go skating on a date night and when we showed up, we had to stand in line for 45min to sign a waiver. This wouldn't be a huge problem except that the line barely moved. So, assuming this place (which was paid for by taxpayer money) would be in the 21st century where easy online waivers exist, we tried to login online and sign the waiver. Unfortunately, the waiver couldn't be filled out in its entirety online because the system was flawed (again, isn't it 2020?). It isn't difficult to have an online check-in process these days. Once someone signs a waiver (which we ended up not completing), you then had to stand in another line (that also wasn't moving) to pay to skate and rent skates. You would think that a place that is so exquisite would make it easy for the public to participate in open skate (but obviously their priority is elsewhere - competitive leagues and bar sales from the parents "watching" their kids). Having an hour and a half window to public skate (as indicated by their online schedule) necessitates a much easier sign-in process. It baffles me that they make it so difficult for the public who helped pay for their building to skate. They need a massive revamping of their entire ingress system. Thoroughly...

I must say we are extremely disappointed in this place and the way they run their Adult hockey League for two big reasons:
Ford Ice Center is refusing to provide our players copies of the Waiver Form they signed at the beginning of the season. A waiver form our players have a "Legal" right to. Why is that? How shady is that? What are they hiding? They force us to sign a waiver form and then won't provide a copy of it to us? Makes you wonder what they are hiding!
This place is using Level 1 - USA Hockey referees for their Men's League. Level 1 referees are licensed to do 12 year olds and under according to USA Hockey.....yet they are doing games in the Men's League that contain ex High School and College players? The officiating here is abysmal and has been for years.....and I guess now we know why. They are using completely unqualified referees. Unbelievable!
Be very careful before signing up to play hockey here! The arena itself is nice, but the way the leagues are run is completely ridiculous. Consider...
Read moreI took a date here for the public skate and we had a super fun time! They rink wasn’t too crowded at all and they had cleaned the ice before they opened it for us. The price is pretty affordable, for 10.50 that includes your skate rental. The only reason I knocked a star was because every single staff member I interacted with was super rude. We we were not greeted, I asked for the public skate and she silently rang in my request and failed to tell me where to rent the skates or what rink we were going to be in. I grabbed a snack and walked back to the rental area and asked for my skates I had paid for and the guy directed me back to the girl who sold me a ticket and she swiftly directed me back to him. He then completely IGNORED my date standing next to me and I had to flag him down again to get his skates. None of the people working there could have been over 21 and they were super unhelpful and downright rude. Other than the experience with the staff we had a wonderful and will certainly be...
