Natchitoches Convention & Visitors Bureau — Attraction in Natchitoches

This center has some potential now that they built a new hotel directly across from the center and repaired the adjacent street. Sadly, at this time, I can't imagine why anyone would want a convention in this town. The city leaders simply have not cultivated the synergy to make it work. At least, I am unaware of any general interest activities that might spark some vitality into this town for this center. The hotel could offer a city cafe, a club, or a niche dining spot.The hotel will likely change ownership a few times, fall into disrepair, and be converted into low income housing. City leaders need a vision and a plan to vitalize this town, to help this convention center. Police need to keep a lower profile, and learn to serve and protect, and to be honest. My husband and I have made the habit of stopping in at the local tourist information place when we visit a new city. I don't remember her name, but the young woman working there was incredibly friendly and helpful. I walked away with multiple brochures, maps, magazines, and newspapers; which I went through that night. The map of the area attractions was very helpful. Spent 4th of July weekend in Natchitoches and it was nice. The band on the riverwalk was fantastic and the fireworks show was amazing.
