I dined there midweek with a friend and it was most enjoyable. One of the owners stopped by our table to see if our experience was satisfactory. The server was helpful and cordial.
The filet was cooked exactly as I ordered it and it was so good it melts in your mouth. I would have like a more pronounced garlic flavor in the mashed potatoes, but that is an easy fix. The buttery savory fresh rolls reminds me of the New Orleans pistolette. Yummy. The salad was chilled and crisp. I much prefer the current owner situation.
The former style of Landing's menu offerings used too many different strange seasonings on the entrees and too much cream and butter on some things; the former server staff were snooty and rude. They made you feel as if you were annoying them with your presence. You just left feeling as if you received very little value for all the money you spent.
The current prices are comparable to what was there before and the food and service is better. Some of the reviewers were complaining about the prices. They will pay just as much for substandard food at the other restaurants down the street. The Landing is elegant while the fried seafood bar and grill a block or two away is not.
To the ones who don't like the current setup at the Landing, Natchitoches has plenty of other price options for you. It's not a iHop or a pizza hangout, so you can't expect those kinds of prices those places offer. It's an...
Read moreOn Saturday, November 24, 2018, my family and myself visited Natchitoches to experience the Festival of Lights for the first time. After the fireworks we decided to eat at The Landing. Expecting a long wait time due to the crowd we did have a 45 minute wait to be seated. This was fine and completely understandable. Our waiter was efficient in serving our drinks and taking our order. This is were the problem arises. We ordered two appetizers, Mini Meat Pies and Boudin Eggrolls. Shortly after we ordered our appetizers we ordered our meal. We waited 45 minutes and still had no appetizers so the waiter offered to bring us some fried bread to hold us until our ordered appetizers arrived. Unfortunately all of the appetizers arrived at the same time which took over a hour. We waited another hour before our meal arrived. My fiancé and myself ordered chicken fried steak and my son ordered fried catfish. I took a bite of my chicken fried steak and told my fiancé to taste his. It had the worst taste. My son took a bite of his fried catfish and had a strange look on his face. The grease that are meals were prepared in was burnt! So after waiting over 2 hours to get our meals we could not even eat them! Very disappointed! The waiter did comp our meals however the manager never once came to our table to discuss/apologize for...
Read moreTwo years ago, around the Thanksgiving holiday, we traveled to Natchitoches to see the Christmas lights. We had dinner at The Landing and the service was terrible. We waited an hour and a half after we ordered to receive our meal and when it did arrive, most of the dishes were cold.
Fast forward 2 years. We are in town for the holidays once again and decided to take the kids to see the lights. Someone suggested The Landing and the group said no. I convinced them that the poor experience we had during our last visit was a fluke. The restaurant has good reviews so surely our experience this time will be better. I was wrong. We were there 1 hour before they brought the rolls out. The restaurant wasn’t busy tonight. Not once did anyone ask to refill our drinks. Our salads never came...After almost an hour and 25 minutes, our food came out. The food was really good but unfortunately the overall experience will keep me from ever eating here again. We asked to speak to a manager but he/she never came...
