I used to love taking my dog to this park as it is a great environment and has wonderful trails. However, as of late, there have been countless countless people with dogs that are unchained unleashed, and when I asked them to please leash their dogs, they dismiss me one has even laughed at me. I think i'm going to start taking pictures, because I believe that there needs to be some type of police presence or some.Type of ranger presence checking to make sure an enforcing that people keep their dogs leashed. But I believe that it's illegal to not have your dog leashed. Also, I'm pretty sure half of these people don't even have their dogs licensed. So maybe that needs to be checked into as well, but we definitely need presents here. Some type of authority for those of us who actually follow the law and we'd like for our animals to be safe and enjoy this beautiful environment. It's extremely frustrating, not to mention scary. I've even seen a rottweiler without a leash, and the owner told me.Oh, it's fine, he's trained. I now am forced to carry mace with me which is absolutely ridiculous. Also, to my knowledge, I don't believe that anybody actually owns this park, it's for all to enjoy. So it's really unfair that certain people refuse to leash their dogs and those of us who follow the law cannot enjoy. That's the...

It's kind of a weird place. There are miles of trails through the woods, but also highway overpasses, graffiti-covered sound attenuating walls along the roads, and a trolley line going through it. If you stick near the playground on Papermill Road near the main entrance, the trails are pretty easy, but if you get farther out on the Springfield Trail, and on the other side of Papermill Road, the trails can get a lot harder. You can ride mountain bikes on the trails, but they prohibit ebikes. You can get away with a gravel bike in some places, but you will probably have to carry your bike in some places. The trails do get muddy after it rains, and some trails cross the creek, and you may not be able to cross without getting wet if the creek level rises. Occasionally, you may run into people with large unleashed dogs. Not a huge fan of that,...

After walking at the Springfield Trail we stopped at Smedley County Park to check it out. It was a Wednesday late morning at the start of July and there were a couple of other cars here. It’s a beautiful park with children's playgrounds, picnic tables and places to walk and hike. There were two porta-potties in the parking lot that were in excellent shape. On our second trip to this park was a Tuesday and again with only a couple of cars in the parking lot. We walked part of the Red Trail. It’s an easy trail. I hope to get back and end up hiking all of the marked trails.
