Snap Dragon — Local services in New Bern

This little store is a great gem for New Bern and I am glad it is here. For the most part we find the prices to be reasonable for a small business and try to purchase here when we can over any online retailer. I always find something new to discover when shopping here, and rarely leave empty handed. The Customer service from the owner at times leaves a lot to be desired. You will not find an over friendly vibe at checkout, but they also let you play with toys and explore their store as long as you need, so don't let the customer service deter you from buying if excited customer service is part of your shopping fun, I think its just a personality thing.

You can find a lot here if you look long enough. There are great education resources here too like flashcards, and "everything you need to know about" middle school books which we love. Tons of books.

Covid mask issues seem to be on the way out finally thank goodness. We aren't participants personally, but the store does ask for customers to wear them, but I don't feel they are ugly about it or anything. Im sure it will be a non thing here soon though. I cant see why anyone couldn't find what they are looking for here. We have been shopping this little store...

Rudest coldest woman in New Bern works here. Much better places to be. It's not about any more than being a decent human being. She 'snapped' like a dragon, yelling at me in my wheelchair and interrupted me, rather than wait 2 minutes and politely ask me to scoot my chair out of the way. You can say excuse me. You can talk to people with an ounce of empathy and compassion. OR you can SNAP like a DRAGON because you'd rather others suffer along with you. Seriously, never had a complaint or confrontation with ANYONE ELSE like this. Others who live and work along the property have been very kind and helpful to me. The city official informed me I could bconduct myself anywhere downtown. I felt verbally assaulted. That's NEVER ok. And I don't complain about much. See my reviews elsewhere. If you don't deserve it, if you're not rude and unkind, or neglecting your customers, you get a good review from me. No excuses or exception. Don't come at someone hot. I'm a fellow toy store owner and was the manager of one of the largest independent toy stores in the country for around a decade. It takes a lot to impress me, but Snap Dragon did. The selection is well curated, and I had a hard time spotting a single dud on the shelves. The owner was informed and well practiced with the products she sells, which I believe is (or ought to be) the most important distinction between shopping at a toy store versus shopping in a toy section of a department store. My girlfriend, who is even more particular than I am when it comes to store layout and selection, was just as impressed and has not stopped talking about how cool this place is.
