Wine & Design — Attraction in New Bern

Went back to Wine and Design for the second time, after the first time I went was for a fun Harry Potter theme night several years ago! I had so much fun then and always been wanting to come back! Went back tonight 8/15/23 for paint your pet theme and it was a BLAST! There was a total of 6 of us in the class tonight and the owner Amber was Fantastic with all of us! She was also fantastic with the other customers painting in the studio as well. She was always walking around, offering suggestions and giving pointers, as well as EXPLAINING! Which I really enjoyed. She is so much fun and such a great people person! Amber is the type of person that you may have just met her but she makes you feel like you have known her for years! She’s patient, even with OCD anxious painters like myself! 🤪 The other thing I absolutely found so sweet is that if you leave Amber’s studio when it’s night time, she will walk you out and make sure you get to your car safely ❤️ overall it was such a wonderful experience and I won’t be waiting so long to come back! I'm going to give 3 stars, because I have been there twice. My first experience was great. The staff was fun, friendly, and very helpful. We had a blast. The 2nd, and probably my last time, my friend and I went to a recycle night event. They had run out of paintings we had any interest in what so ever, so we opted for blank canvases. I knew they weren't going to sketch anything for us, and wasn't expecting them to. I did expect some instructions and a little interaction. All I got was a few blotches of paint and some vage instructions (we picked previous paintings around the room as inspirations) on how to start that was about all the interaction we got. When the night ended my friend walked up to the counter to grab a brochure and the leader pointed her attention to the two tip jars she had on the counter. Cute, and a great way to grab a tip, but in this case she was almost pushy about it. Reminding us that she could also accept credit card tips. Twice! Personally I didn't feel like a tip...

Went to wine & design for the first time on Saturday to open paint session. It was an absolute mess. My friend and I were given no direction aside from the paint being for the whole table. We weren’t told where the wine cups were, we weren’t told to look at the paintings and pick one (we just did it because everyone else was), we weren’t told where to get water for the brushes and the girl never checked on anyone to see if we needed help (and I definitely did but she was just sitting in the corner). I also didn’t actually get my canvas until almost an hour into the event which left me with only an hour to paint. On top of all the other disappointment, I guess the AC wasn’t working. My friend and I were ready to pass out it, was so hot. A disclaimer on that would’ve been appreciated.
