I've never been here but more than a walk in as far as I know first of all. I'm turned off when a business has employees standing around outside smoking and they usually have two at a time. One in front and one out the back side door. Some places downtown you'll find the occasional pot smoker making chiefly secrets outside the back or side door and i would expect no less at the bear town market. I avoid the location because it's too dark and too small. On Friday nights the bar gets a bit rowdy and I'm not a big fan of sitting with my legs in the air and my back to the crowd for obvious reasons. The floor area is even smaller than the seating area and flaunts a classic pool table as a main attraction. After a few weekends of visiting the area for a walk around to scan the goings on i found that some very intoxicated people were coming out and remaining in the bar and so i really questioned the validity of this kind of patronage and barkeeping. It was also a split where say a couple would be together exiting and one part would be very intoxicated and the other would seem distant and not so intoxicated. That's a big problem because it provokes that people need help in getting clear of the more intoxicated peoples and it's a bad set up for single guys or bouncers who want to parlay the attentions or affections or even intentions of women who are paired with men whom are drunk whilst they are not. A perfect time for anyone to prey on thier intentions and affections while they may be a slight blinded to the real inadequacy of the person who has gotten drunk or they may be well overstanding that someone has just had too many because the bar was boring and they gave up on it and a bad barkeep didn't recommend they try another local spot and turn the night into something of value and just an experience as opposed to a wash and pain of a memory ephemeral with halcyon ambiguity left in thier senses. It's important to cater to your patrons and the clientele of the downtown area at large. Give me a big open air pagoda and a few grills cooking fresh jumbo shrimp and chicken and a cajun style band and I'll show you why circulation is people's destination. It doesn't take much to turn the city night light on and a few places are doing it and a few still are not. It's hard to do much with a small space but it's easy to do the wrong thing no matter what you do. The only way to be nice to bear town market is to give them your money and get drunk. That means it's not a good bar with patrons or customers or locals health and heart and happiness in mind. Maybe I have a black nose or something but I bear the weight of my own criticism with good ideas and suggestions. I will continue to avoid this bar and i recommend they try to change a little. What!? Someone not like my review and criticize me personally! Well, I'm not surprised! Good ideas get used not criticized! If you are an active owner and operator you'll know this is as valid as ever and should always be the goal of your establishment! Spice it up! I probably still won't attend! I've no need for a hangover or overstanding repeat patrons looking for to brow beat me and snub me because I give it up to thier establishment and they don't care..they're just giving themselves something to do! Adjust your barkeeps and set the goal on your patrons health and happiness! That's my advice. If you gotta send them across the street so be it but don't drink them like horses just so they...
Read moreSuper cute bar, even though it is super small. Fair drink prices, and gotta love a bar that plays Jeopardy on the TV. Service could be better. Our bartenders had little personality and were mainly concerned with complaining about some other bar tenders that worked there. I am from out of town and hearing them speak about the bartenders in the area made me feel like there is a lot of rivalry in town. Talk about catty!...
