Comal Pet Hospital is nothing short of exceptional! From the moment I walked in with my 15year old cat, Moofies, I knew I had found a truly special place. The warm welcome from Caitlin at the front desk immediately set the tone. She was friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind. After a long day of appointments, the complimentary water and coffee were a thoughtful touch that I appreciated and more than I expected. Bringing my two-year-old along had me bracing for the usual polite but exhausted looks that parents sometimes get, but here? Nothing but genuine smiles and kindness toward a happy little toddler just being themselves. That level of understanding speaks volumes about the kind of people that work here. And then there was Kayla, the manager—an absolute standout. Her depth of knowledge and ability to explain everything so clearly was incredible. When discussing Moofies’ diet and health, she was completely transparent about costs, offering recommendations without the slightest hint of pressure to add unnecessary services. The patience she showed as me, an unabashed cat-dad interrupting her with questions, was remarkable. Even at the end of a long day (I was a 5.30p appointment), her energy was unwavering, her professionalism and grace fully intact. Being worried about Moofies, I couldn't help but hover near the door, listening for any signs of distress when they took her blood—nothing. Not a single cry or hiss, just calm and careful handling that reassured me beyond words. After that came Dr. Peña, the veterinarian. Profoundly knowledgeable, passionate, and 100% focused on Moofies' well-being. The way she listened, processed the details I provided, and delivered insights that connected the dots to behaviors I hadn’t fully pieced together. It was clear she wasn’t just checking boxes. She genuinely cared. Every single person in that office was phenomenal. The kindness, expertise, and attention to detail blew me away. They didn’t just care for Moofies—they cared for me as well, making sure that every concern was heard, every question answered. And by the way.. the office was immaculate. If you're looking for a vet that treats both you and your beloved pet with the utmost respect, warmth, and expertise, look no further than Comal Pet Hospital. Truly a five-star experience from start to finish!

We just recently took our dog George to this pet hospital, and I would just like to say to the staff and the doctor who had been with him THANK YOU. We used to go to a different vet and it was a horrible experience. We had tried to stick with that doctor because we heard he worked with rotties, but to be perfectly honest I do believe that George had, as time went by with that clinic, trauma. He used to be fine going to the vet. He didn’t care before, but then one day he started to hate going there. And recently we had tried to take him there again due to these strange scab like spots we had found spreading from the back of his neck to his cheek. That ‘doctor’ told us that it was nothing, to simply put Neosporin on it and he’ll be fine. He didn’t take into consideration our concerns or the fact we informed him that it HAD spread, that it had just been a tiny bump on one spot before. Taking George here however was like night and day. The moment the doctor had looked at him she immediately knew he had an infection, and then when shaving him down found it wasn’t just at his head and neck and cheek, but that it had spread further down his back. Seeing it myself made me go blank, and listening to his cries as he tried to cling to my legs left me furious, because there HAD been something but the other vet said there was /nothing/. He’s right now on antibiotics after they had cleaned out the wounds. We’ll be visiting them again for a follow up to assure that he’s healing well with the prescriptions given. Again, thank you for taking care of George. He’s my baby and I love him dearly, to know he was given the best care is everything. We will most definitely be coming back here from now on .

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional care that Baxter received at Comal Pet Hospital during his recent scheduled leg amputation and recovery as a result of a traumatic injury he sustained shortly after birth. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly warm and welcoming, making both Baxter and me feel at ease during a very stressful time. Both Dr. Zuniga and Dr. Pena, as well as the entire team, demonstrated not only their expertise but also their genuine compassion for what they do. They took the time to explain the procedure in detail, addressing all of my concerns with patience and understanding. The level of attention and care that Baxter received was truly remarkable. The team provided regular updates during his surgery and ensured that I was informed every step of the way. No question was left unanswered. Post-surgery, the follow-up care was impeccable. The technicians were attentive and knowledgeable, guiding me through Baxter's recovery process and providing valuable tips on how to support him during this transition. They even checked in on us multiple times to see how he was doing, which made a world of difference. Baxter is now recovering beautifully and adapting well to his new normal, thanks to the outstanding care he received at Comal Pet Hospital. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone seeking compassionate, professional, and skilled veterinary care. They truly go above and beyond for their furry patients, and I am so grateful for everything they have done for Baxter and I. Thank you, Comal Pet Hospital! đŸŸâ€ïž

Updating my review after a very stressful week with this clinic. Called to have a prescription renewed for my 16 year old senior dog. For context, he has issues with throwing up occasionally after meals. We noticed when he had his ultrasound back in June that he has gastroparesis. She prescribed him metoclopramide and explained how she doesn’t want to have to have an animal on meds long term if possible but if it helps him, we’ll go that route.

Fast forward to this week and he finally ran out. It has been a lifesaver for him. He’s able to stomach his food, now has healthy bowel movements, and has even put on weight. I called Tuesday asking for a prescription renewal. Crickets, didn’t hear anything back. Finally today (Friday) I call at 8:30 AM asking about the prescription. They said they’ll get with the vet tech and call me back. 3:45 PM and I still haven’t heard anything.

I call back and am told that Dr. Barrera won’t give him the refill. I had explained to the vet tech that wasn’t the course of care that we had discussed and this medicine has helped this dog tremendously and we’ll be going out of town for a week. I don’t want him getting sick at someone’s house. Again, vet tech said they’d talk to Dr. Barrera and they’d call me back but it would be a little later since she had clients. Understandable and I said that’s fine.

Never heard anything back. They lost us as patients because it’s clear my pets wellbeing is not of importance in any way.

I felt like the staff here was very competent however, we unfortunately more than likely won’t return because they’re not within the CareCredit network. My dog had a $585 bill and I asked if they could put it on the promotional plan. The receptionist did. A few days later when the charge posted, I saw that the promotional plan was terminated. When I reached out to CareCredit, they said that Comal Pet Hospital was not within the CareCredit network therefor no purchases made there, regardless of amount, would be able to be on the 0% promotional period. Total bummer because vet bills can be expensive and CareCredit’s standard interest...

I do NOT recommend this place it shouldn’t be even a one horrible care and respect of patients and owners it’s a large place with zero caring and competence in my opinion! I specifically told the person I made the call with we needed x ray for possible fracture of my dog he couldn’t hardly walk with a ace bandage to help support his leg to have to get in and out of the car made it worse when I got there they said because it was 3:30 they couldn’t do the x ray and wanted me to come back in a week really and put him thru that again no caring argumentative non listening he was in horrible pain and now it was worse with no treatment the only pain med they wanted to give him was a invasive injection sure forget that junk in him no thank you when he could taken a anti inflammatory tablet boy these places want zero argument just listen and be quiet not one pet owner should. E like that they should advocate for their pet They did zero for my dog and added injury thru the whole process I asked your machine is right here why can’t he have a x ray now they said it would be added cost of 2oo dollars the x ray was already $450 !!!!really guys . I went to a lovely vet in seguin that was awesome affordable too I had all kinds of things addressed they made it easy they all I mean all came in to see my boy and I felt so loved there go to Vca -caring listened and did a fantastic assessment with a seasoned vet . Comal this place has brand new grads that are just taught where’s the money and don’t think for themselves they just follow the leader of the cabal no real mind the big glam places all show forget them and go to a kind caring vet it’s your right to leave or discontinue there wherever you go find a real human that cares !!! Truly it was aweful my dog was in horrible pain after the ordeal way worse but thankfully Vca in seguin was excellent every person there from start to finish! I’ll never tell anyone to go...
