The owner behaves unethically in my experience. Their billing processes are disorganized. I wouldn’t recommend leaving your credit card on file with this business. I recently got a bill that was supposedly for service over 2 years prior (it’s extremely hard to tell if an invoice is legitimate when you’re billed 2 years after the service date(s) and their process was never systematic). Instead of the owner taking responsibility for a “software error” and owning the fact that invoicing someone 2 years after service date(s) is terrible business practice, he instead threatened to sue me, said such lawsuit “won’t be good for my credit score” AND threatened my personal reputation as a local business owner (for “not paying my bills” I guess when I questioned the bill/timing?) I have a credit score of 820 as I always pay my bills immediately. As a trusted local business owner myself, I would never even CONSIDER charging someone 2 years later for my own company’s error. Read moreWhat a great experience I just had at Life Aquatic. I've been wanting to start a planted aquarium for quite some time. I went to one other store and they were rather cold so I left. When I went to Life Aquatic, I was immediately greeted and asked if I wanted assistance. The store is spacious, beautiful, and filled with amazing variety. Randy, the owner was very helpful and very knowledgeable. He did not oversell me, which I greatly appreciated. I wanted something small and he cheerfully obliged without hesitation. He made thoughtful recommendations. Randy literally set up the entire aquarium (only 2.5 gal) while I was there complete with tank, rocks, plants, a snail and shrimp so when I went home, all I had to do was add more water plug it all in. It sits proudly on my counter and all the shrimp and snail survived. I believe Randy will be the one I turn to from now on for advice and my aquarium needs. Read moreWe were driving to fish stores all across CT today looking for fish and corals- knowing what’s going on with Hawaii and the lack of import of yellow tangs, we did our best to seek one out. This was our first time stopping in Life Aquatic and it was due to the fact that they did have 2 yellow tangs available. As some may know, the cost of them has risen dramatically and some stores are looking to price gouge consumers- but Randy did no such thing and gave us a phenomenal deal based on what he had paid for them, not at all looking to take advantage of the current demand for these beautiful fish. Randy was super friendly and helpful, and spent at least 30 minutes trying to catch the one specific tang we wanted in his beautiful reef; even at the cost of dissembling a beautiful show tank.
