My wife and I loved to visit this boutique silver store in beautiful downtown New Canaan, CT and after almost 2 years of not visiting, I surprised her today and took her for her birthday. She was to choose whatever she wanted as her gift(s) and what we both looked forward to as a great afternoon escape turned sour as soon as we walked in the store! We wanted to give the salesperson the benefit of the doubt, however, after 15 minutes of her not even acknowledging us or our needs(we were the only customer in the store), we realized this is NOT the same friendly service we were accustomed to! We started to place our choices on the counter for when we were ready to buy them all, yet after choosing 3 items, my wife told me she was done. This was odd, as we both went in thinking we would choose several pieces and when we left, my wife admitted that she felt guilty buying any more based on the lack of service, lack of smiles and quite frankly, lack of anything, from the sales woman....completely numb to the fact that we were there shopping! I am not sure what happened to the friendly staff, but unfortunately, today's much less than desirable experience actually made us both say to each other that it was bad enough to make us not want to visit again...a pure shame, as it is(was) a great destination for us and our friends. I only hope the owners, if they are the same husband/wife team that we knew them to be a few years ago, don't lose too much based on what we experienced today. For the petite sales person today....if you wanted to turn us away, you...
Read moreI visited about two weeks ago looking for a specific ring. I found a ring I liked, but it was too big so I had it resized (this resizing process was done with another "similar" ring, not a ring sizer). A week later the ring was ready so I went back. Not only was the ring still too big (I was told my fingers "swell" when its hot out so that could explain the difference...), but the band of the ring where the main stone was, was bent. Looking at the ring head on and from above, there was a clear distortion in the band that was not there when I bought it.
I was initially going to get it resized again, trying to dismiss the bend because I wanted the ring, so I put my order in and left the ring there. The next day though, I had a change of heart because I knew that the bend in the ring was a result of a sloppy resizing. I called the business, asking to cancel the second resizing and inquired about a potential return or refund of the ring. I did receive a refund for the second resizing, but was then told that because the ring was altered, it was not returnable, and did not even warrant store credit. When I told them about the bend, they told me they couldn't see it, but it was obvious to me and quite problematic, given I paid for a ring with no bends in it.
I told them to keep the ring because I was not happy with it, and it was not what I bought. They had no problem taking my money despite the fact I was not pleased. I will not be a...
