Been on this trail several times. Pretty easy trail. As far as the mountains go in the fall, there are beautiful leaves from maple trees and oak. At one point there is a pretty large meadow which is great for kids to play good parking located here. There are a few benches located throughout the trail for people to sit and take a rest. There’s also an amazing view of the Trestle on this trail. There are also a few pretty good geocaches available along the trail as well! My only complaint is people leaving there dog pile bags and not hiking them out which has nothing to do with the trail, but the laziness of people instead.

We did this trail when top temperature was about 65°. Ideal! The views were gorgeous. Being up so high, we were able to see miles and miles of gorgeous lush tree tops. The trails were easy, wide, and some rocky. It is a loop trail, I recommend completing the loop. We picked up walking sticks that helped along the trail, especially the rocky areas. Some areas were so peaceful and incredibly quiet. We had to stop and soak it all in and catch our breath. :) It did get tough in some areas, the trail was new and not knowing made it seem longer than it should have. But so worth it!!

Did it in April 2024. Perfect season to hike this loop trail with the snow and forest combines with the sun glaring at us in the middle of a cool temperature. Had a good scenery view of the forest, the Mexican trestle tracks, and also the white sand area from above. Spotting two deers while walking through peaceful quiet nature. Good thing I had a friend who came along with me instead of myself hiking alone all the time. Wanted to let my friends experience my hiking journey while staying in El Paso before I go to another state from the military.

I did lots of research from multiple sights before hand. All sources stated that this was an easy trail that loops. There are multiple points in the trail where you can't really tell the difference from the main trail and game trails. There are a few signs here and there but some are scratched out or turned the wrong way. Trails were narrow at some points with lots of rocks, mud, and ice. My son had to use Google maps a few times just to make sure we could make it to the highway if needed. My suggestion, it needs to be better marked as to what is the mail trail and what are...
