Empire Theatre — Attraction in New Shoreham

I wish i could give this place zero stars. I came here 2 years ago to watch a movie and support a small business on the island. I ended up getting food poisoning from their dirty popcorn in their dirty snack bar. This afternoon before my movie i walked in and asked what time it started. The owner turned around and said don't ask me questions, im closed right now, and shut the doors in my face. this was two strikes. I then went to the movie anyways and made sure not to get the popcorn because i was giving the theatre a third chance. then he came up to me and asked if my seat was saved (because i placed my bag there for a second) and i said no and he starts cussing me out under his breath and said “then why are you putting it there like you are saving someones seat take it off!” this was my last strike so i left. never come here you will most likely get sick and get treated poorly. for someone who owns a small business on a small poor island, he doesn't seem like someone to care about his customers. worst business owner i have EVER...

Although I can’t full on review the inside of this establishment due to the fact that I never made it inside I still feel as if my experience should be shared. Right of the bat my friend, who was low on cash, went up to the ATM at the theatre and tried to use his card to withdraw money but the machine wasn’t working. We then tried again but a guy standing in line behind us comments something along the lines of it’s not the machine you just don’t have money so as rude as that was my friends and I walked away but I was still sure it was the machine so I replied telling him that the machine is giving him an error. To my dismay he replies,”I’m the owner of this theatre it’s not the machine”. So after this my friends and I just left went to go find another ATM and it worked first try. I can’t speak on the looks and feel of the theatre itself but you won’t see me going to a theatre owned by someone who treats their...

When I was riding my bike to this establishment to shop, the owner placed a box in my path. I questioned why he placed a box in my path and he said you should not be crossing the side walk riding your bike. If you are near the owner of this establishment: do not cross a sidewalk riding a bike. As an Arizona visitor of this fine community (I was shocked a merchant will behave in this manner especially outside his establishment). I promise not to cross a Block Island sidewalk...
