Me and my family visited North Chicago for my brother's Navy boot camp graduation ceremony. It was our first time visiting and we couldn't do much since we were on a budget. I saw this place, and it only charged around ~$20 a person. The only downfall was that it charges more online if you're not a resident of that county. But when we got there, they didn't check. (We ordered our tickets online. So I assume maybe they'll ask for ID if you get the tickets in person instead. I'm not too sure, though.)
Once we got there we were greeted by very friendly staff and the entryway itself was beautiful. We went on a good weather day, I believe it was in the 70F range. Once you enter you can pretty much explore wherever. And the whole Botanic Park is HUGE! There's so much to discover. My family spent almost 5 hours of exploring and we didn't get to see it all. They had a newly added model train system featuring a lot of popular tourist sights around the USA (mini statue of liberty, mount Rushmore, Hollywood sign, etc). The park even has its own bike trail. There are so many different gardens to look at. This park is also a great way of getting in some light excersizes.
They also hold events, live music, dinners, etc. On our way out, they were about to hold some live music. Unfortunately, we had to leave and didn't get to stay and enjoy that, but there was already a large crowd forming early.
This place is obviously great. I hope to come here again with my family in October for my brother's second graduation in the Navy.
The staff was friendly, helpful, and lively. The grounds were EXTREMELY well kept, clean, and gorgeous. And overall this place is a fun, family friendly space for anyone to come and enjoy themselves in nature whilst also learning new things about botanicals~ :)
Only downside was the prices of the cafe food, food was way too much, I'd recommend bringing your own...

The beautiful gift shop is filled with amazing plants. I’m a huge plant Momma with over 50 plants and is excited to bring another one to the family. You can tell they nurture and love on their plants at this garden. The shop is filled with so many amazing synchronicities and confirmations. Those in tune and innerstand my language you can definitely do a quantum leap for sure!
Very grateful I was able to enjoy it with my family.

Read moreIn the brief time I have lived on this earth, I have visited the Botanic Gardens around fifty times, and each time I have been delighted. I currently visit once a week, usually on the days listed below as off days, to escape the crowds. The gardens are immaculately manicured, constantly tended to, and expertly planned. Each (most) section of the garden is referred to as an island, and each island has a distinct style. I advise families, couples, and single people to visit and enjoy the many gardening styles found here, from the well-loved Japanese Garden Islands to the Fruit and Vegetable Island. Everything is located in one location, and everything has such a distinct quality. If you're interested in learning more about any plant or tree, the majority contain metal labels that tell you the species. There are a few larger signs scattered about that inform you of what a specific item or feature is and why it is used in that garden.
It is very highly recommended that you visit this lovely garden if you are in Chicago.
If you live in the Chicagoland area, I have already been here many times. I suggested visiting during a non-peak hour, taking a seat, and admiring the exquisite arrangement of each tree, plant, and bench that contributes to the ambiance of the Chicago Botanic Gardens.
