Saw a Facebook video for The Claim Company of Northbrook a few years ago, while I never saved the restaurant to any list, it would sporadically come back to me when I looked at the map. I can't remember what menu item the video featured, but if I had to guess, I guess it was for their burger menu and chicken wings. Anyways, fast forward to May of 2025 when I made my visit to TCCoN and ordered both a burger and wings. The menu was very large, like an old fashioned dinner restaurant menu with multiple pages. One page dedicated entirely to their build your own burger. Let me tell you, you could've built a burger any number of a thousand ways. There were about 8 different types of burgers, buns, cheese, spreads and dozens of toppings to load up on. The true praise here is that they actually cooked my hamburger exactly the way it should have been. I also have high praise for the spicy dijon mustard (which had hints of horseradish) and their onion bun. I put sauteed onions on it, but they made the burger difficult to hold and eat because everything was sliding all over the place, I'd leave these off next time, they contributed nothing to the burger. I had crinkle cut fries with the burger, but they were unspectacular and exactly what one should expect with those. The wings were very interesting. If I'm not mistaken, these were smoked at some point because of the way the meat fell away from the bones and way the meat tasted. The buffalo sauce was mild, but delivered a solid flavor and aroma. There were at least 10 wings in this order, but I didn't actually count them. I will say there were definitely more in the order than I was expecting. Of the 9 in my group, I was probably the one most impressed here. So I lightly factor others opinions into my score. I did call ahead to see if they could accomodate 9 people with little advance notice. Without them taking a name or number they had a table set for 10 when we arrived. We didn't get our servers name during our visit and he was very "to the point." Not super personable or relatable, but good at what he did. The restaurant itself is a kind of a cross between sports bar and modern American sit down. They had a beer and wine menu as well as a bar. It's likeable set up. I personally would've rated this as 5 if I had gone by myself. But a handful of others I was with felt the food was just okay. I would certainly come back...
Read moreWent a few weeks ago with my little guy. I always disclose this in reviews.....I'm from the industry working my way up as a chef to assistant GM. For the North Shore the prices are fair & that's just how it is up here. The day we went the food was great. My issue was our server. She was kind & friendly but appeared to be the ONLY 1. She was working both the regular restaurant area & the bar. The hostess was letting people sit anywhere they wanted in the restaurant. So our server had to run to the other rooms by the mall enterance besides just the area by the bar & hostess stand. She checked on us only once due to being spread so thin & made a mistake with my burger. I saw that they had the Impossible burger & hadn't had a chance to do my research on it yet. Due to health issues I can't have soy & Gluten. I specifically told her this & she said "Ok" & recommended the Impossible burger specifically. I ordered the Gluten free bun knowing about the up-charge. Only AFTER I was halfway through my burger did she bring me a sheet from the company that makes the burger telling me what's in it. I was floored because the sheet CLEARLY stated it was basically TVP (soy) & Vital Wheat Gluten. Luckily I'm not Celiac but let's just say the aftermath of this wasn't pretty. Obviously the training isn't being done. So I made sure that even tho she got a tip it reflected her lack of awareness & what I'd have to be dealing with the rest of the day. We're going to be going back today so I'll be sure to just keep it simple & get a salad or something. As for the kids they get a huge full size burger so it definitely was...
Read moreHorrible experience. I walked in and was greeted by a nasty host that shouldn't be the face of a restaurant. The whole place was very overwhelmed. She talked to us in a very condescending tone that she has nothing for an hour didn't offer a wait list or anything. I asked for the manager and she gave another nasty response of "NO" finally the manager/owner came out and was rushing the entire conversation. He even told me his kitchen was currently going down due to talking to me!! Not only did we leave but we will certainly not be coming back.
Obviously this place suffers from poor standards and poor management. 👎👎
The owners response to this post is incorrect. We had no problem with waiting but the tone and how we were treated led to our quick departure. There was no "misperception" as he's trying to paint it, it was just flat out RUDE service. This wasn't an event of an over dramatic customer that had set unrealistic expectations. These were calm individuals who were willing to wait until the Hostess and then owner snapped at them when asked for a table for 6. Nothing screams incompetence more than saying, "The kitchen is going down because I'm talking to you."
Both my wife and I had previously been restaurant managers (5 years) and (3 years). So yes, we absolutely know what it's like to be on the other side and can say with an absolute certainty you...
