This is my local AMC movie theater. I waited long while to watch Spiderman No Way Home. The theater room (7) which is located upstairs near the back was empty when I arrived.

I noticed that there isn't really great photos to identify how far you want to sit from the screen. This is a standard format viewing of the movie so the pictures would be in reference to the format. Most people want to sit at the 3rd or 4th row. The pictures hopefully show the difference between both. This is how I view the difference, in the third row, it felt like an immersive view. While the fourth row, you get a good view where you don't feel like you're looking up.

The sound and picture was great for the format. I'm not sure if it's because the place was empty but the sound was loud that I got surprised a few times. The recliner chair on the third row wouldn't recline. I wasn't sure if it was because this showing would have very little people that they're saving electricity or it was broken. I didn't get the test the others. Also notice that some chairs been through a lot when you sit. They feel different. Not a lot of cleanliness because when you look down the cup holder, you can see sticky residue, probably from spilled drinks.

The food station upstairs was not clean but well stocked with necessities.

The staff is nice enough. I must have had the last showing because when I turned around, the one responsible for closing the theater was standing there. Kind of spooked me a little but I understand it was necessary to make sure everyone has left. I used the bathroom before leaving. I asked for permission as I wasn't sure if the bathroom was closed but he said I can go.

The bathroom always leaves my shoes sticky that when I walk out, sounds like I'm walking on those sticky mouse traps.

As a local theater, I can't complain. The sound and picture is fair enough for the format you choose. However, there's other aspects to the theater that can be...

This place has theatres located upstairs and downstairs.

In regards to cleanliness, it seemed good. As nothing was noticeably unclean.

For the food, it is quite expensive, so I usually do not order food when I visit here.

As for the movie viewing experience I will separate my experiences between IMAX, and not IMAX (Digital).

The digital viewing experience was good, in my opinion. The screen was big, but nothing impressively big. The sound of the movie through there speakers was loud and present. However, it seemed like one of the speakers was buzzing, in my experience. The chairs was great, as they recline back and it can be very relaxing. My friend even fell asleep one time, haha.

As for my IMAX experience, it wasn't too good. The screen seemed similar to the digital screen, as I was expecting the IMAX screen to be much bigger. The sound experience was the same as the digital experience. As for the chairs, for some reason, the chairs do not fully recline. This left me and my friend in a weird position, almost like "halfway reclined". This eventually caused our necks to hurt halfway through the movie to the end. This wasn't a pleasant experience. The recline buttons on the chair wasn't responding too much either, as they required multiple presses in order to work.

The staff seem good too. However, I can recall that for my IMAX experiences, the guy that checked us in was definitely "stoned", as his whole face seemed way too relaxed, and he seemed "out of it". However, I don't count that as a bad experience, as it was mostly a funny experience, in my opinion.

Overall, a good movie theater. However, if you ask for my opinion/recommendation, I would rather go for the non-IMAX experience, than the IMAX experience, specifically for...

POSITIVE(S): Recliner seats, great food selection (actual meals/extensive drink choices including low calorie), elevator access, stubs membership saves $1 in online fees, ticket kiosk is great to pick up online tickets/avoid lines, excellent hand-dryer in bathroom, online customer service will respond quickly if you write them about a problem, digital picture/sound quality is excellent, online reservations are simple and can be texted to your phone and/or e-mailed, trailer previews often come with ratings/criteria & release date written after they finish showing.

NEGATIVE(S): Tickets are a bit expensive ($17+), online reservations are necessary to get a good seat as reserved tickets sell quickly, changing a reservation must be done at the theater (no online/phone changes), credit/debit refunds take up to a week, getting in contact by phone is a gamble at times, passes (included paid ones) are not refunded even if you leave prior to the film starting (only use passes when completely satisfied with seating choice), bathrooms need to be attended to/cleaned more often, escalator only goes upstairs (though elevator access is available), concessions are only downstairs (so if your movie is on lobby/upstairs levels, you must get your food downstairs and then go to another floor). In-theater customer service is average. Employees aren't very outgoing and some use their phones while working (though they generally respond to any issue you might have).

OVERALL: It's a really good theater. It has certain drawbacks that you must prepare for in advance in regard to obtaining good seats and reservations. It's a good theater to go to for a comfortable experience above "regular theaters" even if getting a seat is easier in a...

Update 2/26/22 went from 5 stars pre covid down to 1 star. . . This decision was made based on my last 6 or so visits here which were horrible. This cinema has really lost its touch. It has become run down and nasty. Firstly, getting one of these reclining chairs that actually works is a hit or miss. There is a 50 % chance that the one you are assigned does not work. From my last 6 visits I've only ever gotten one that works twice. Cinemas are also not as clean as they used to be and to top things off the frequently rotating, all new staff, especially the ones at concessions have no clue about infection control or handling food. Today I witnessed them leaving from behind the counter wearing gloves, the same glove was used to handle a person's credit card at the kiosk because she didn't know how to work it. The young man then went back around the counter to handle hotdogs with those gloves all while also touching his mask and nose with those gloves and again touching the hotdogs... another young man just had his gloves all over the counters , opening the door, and ofcourse he went back to touching peoples food... utterly disgusting !!! ..... they also don't have a line for A-list members and concessions is slow and chatotic because you can only order at a kiosk and half the customers don't know how to use it. I won't be returning. (Previous review from a few years back) - Love it here! One of my new fav AMC's because they have PARKING!!! For free! Anywhere you can get parking or better yet free parking in NYC is a sure blessing! Staff are cool as usual and it's clean. Love it here !

This is my new primary theater ever since Douglaston Movieworld's greedy landlord forced it to shut down. I'm old enough to remember when this place had a sister theater across the LIE with a beautiful mural painted on the facade. That building has long since been demolished, but the one on 188th St. remains. It's gone through a couple of renovations over the decades. PROS - Wonderful, comfortable (almost TOO comfortable) leather reclining seats with ample arm and leg room - Clean facilities - Online ticket and concession ordering. Chances of waiting on long lines are slim - Audience behaves themselves - They don't check bags, which is totally NOT an endorsement to smuggle in those sweet, forbidden outside snacks. Totally not. - Prime real estate. Located in a minimall with lots of alternative dining options and free parking CONS - Grossly overpriced tickets and concessions (par for the course these days, sadly) - Assigned seating (just gives them an excuse to charge extra fees and make it hard to redeem AMC Gold or Silver tickets) - New IMAX room is a joke. Screen is barely larger than the standard rooms' screen and somehow the seats are LESS comfortable. - No concession stands or bathrooms on the 2nd floor. So, yeah. Not the most glamorous theater around, but you could definitely do a lot worse.
