This was a great place to bring our son. It wasn't too crowded and it has quite a few options for children to play with. This park also brought back some nostalgic feelings as I remember coming to this park as a child but never remembering it was called Ancient Playground. Our son was a bit shy at first but quickly got the hang of how big the park is. Id have to say that the two best things for him about the park was the small silver tunnel slide and walking through the pyramid like structure that with multiple exits. Id have to say that it was a bit unnerving getting dirty looks from some of the other mothers and fathers who were a bit lighter skinned. Its 2020 folks. No need for the segregation. This will not deter us from coming back as our son loved his experience.

Visited with my granddaughter. The playground definitely was a good positive challenge for her from your traditional NYC Parks Dept set ups. I like the seating along the perimeter which allows parents to keep an eye on their children. Glad the sprinklers by the sand pit were on that helped with both cooling the kids off and removing the bulk of the sand before getting into the car at end of day. There seemed to be difficulty getting the taller sprinklers on so older children were stuck using other sprinklers which always becomes a problem with time. Otherwise clean, restrooms open, no homeless inside park area and well maintained.

It's a playground I hated with my two year old, but came to love as soon as he started to become a good climber, and I didn't have to chase after him anymore. The tunnels are amazing for kids, a punishment for adult backs, as you try to be their safety net, when they're just about to learn how to climb the ladder in the middle of the pyramid. Enough space to climb, run, explore, swing, or enjoy the water sprayers in the summer. The only reason why I'm giving it only 4 stars is that there's not enough shade in the summer, the swings, and most of the slides are in the open, so they get burning hot. So come early or a little later in the afternoon. The floor in the water area had some issues, it felt like it detached itself from the layer underneath, but I bet they're having that fixed...

Pros: nearest from my home and my kids’ school, has public bathroom

Cons: lack of shades during sunny days, lack of tots slides, hard to watch kids because this playground is big, some kids playing soccer ball and no parents care to bring them to the nearby park lawn which is just few yards from the playground.

This playground is not suitable for babies and toddlers because of lack of small kids play area. I have 2 grade schoolers and an energetic 18 months old baby. Chasing the baby in this big playground is a hard work and I often look for my kids where they are. Samuel Seabury playground on 96 and lex is the way...
