The show is amazing. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the front of house at the theater/Kit Kat Club. I spent an extra $200 to be in the Pineapple Room. Complete waste of money and time. I would have been happier at my own seat before the show with a cocktail. The front of house staff is NOT FUN at all. They are merely people movers. Constantly yelling at people to move. Then they tell you that there will be a special announcement or "they will come and get you" for the Pineapple Room. Each person I asked about it told me something different. So I heard an announcement that if you are having dinner with us, please move to your seats. No mention of The Pineapple Room. So I didn't ask AGAIN because I didn't want to be annoying. I waited another 15 minutes. And again asked about the Pineapple Room. And they said there was an announcement. And I said yes.... for dinner and to go to your seats. I thought that was tableside seating. They said RUDELY.."Well, that means the Pineapple Room, too." Like I'm supposed to know. I said, "This is so confusing!" and the girl actually said to me, "it's supposed to be like that." Yeah... I don't think so. We tried finding the Pineapple Room. Again... everyone we asked was rude and just trying to rush us to move. We finally made it to the Room. The staff in the room was nice, and my two stars are for THEM except, we were totally rushed in there too because we were so late. The chairs and tables are so uncomfortable. You can't even reach your cheese because the table is so low. It's pretty awful all around. The Pineapple Room should be for people in the mezzanine. It was nice having a separate bathroom and no line at intermission, but it was so far from our seats that most of the intermission was spent just trying to fight the crowds to get there. The cheesecake was great. Again, we were rushed out to go back to our seats. By the time we got back, I had to go to the bathroom, and the attendant told me no, I had to go to my seat because the second act was about to start. Seriously?! The whole experience was just so miserable. I can't believe I spent $200 on that. I feel like an idiot. The show, entire cast, and band were incredible. If I went to see the show again, I'd go at 7:55 and just go right to my seat. Total fail Kit...
Read moreThe worst experience trying to get tickets I have had at any Broadway theater belongs to “Funny Girl” and the rude staff at August Wilson Theatre. Box office personnel made us wait for three hours for standing room tickets and then only waved in about 10 people. One staffer told the 30+ ppl in the queue there might be a chance of getting in when it was almost curtain time (only about five more did get in), a very New York staffer with major attitude told me midway through waiting "if you wanna get in, better be first in line" (why, thank you, I had not thought of that), which was not even possible as they only open the queue after box office is open and then everyone just elbows their way into the new queue. A complete mess, a good way to pretend they have a huge hit show on their hands when the only reason Funny Girl has not already closed is that they booked a celebrity to lead it. Compare with the competent, friendly way of dealing with theatergoers waiting for lotteries, standing room and rush tickets at other theaters (Book of Mormon is a good example, or Hamilton, where Mr. Miranda used to come out before performances to talk to the waiting crowd). I am very much puzzled, annoyed and angry with the faux experience. Suffice to say we would have also paid for normal-price tickets but all that was offered were seats for either 299 or 399 dollars, a pricing policy many shows now have since they rely on celebrities and fake hype more and more. When even a theatre like this hosting a show like Funny Girl, which temporarily seems to attract audiences due to one central performance by an admittedly extraordinary singer, squanders its opportunity by disappointing a cool 30+ possible audience members just during this one day, theatergoers spending hours in the cold for no good reason whatsoever, then I am left with a very underwhelming feeling of good riddance, Broadway. For all the arrogant glances over at our queue from box office personnel today might have the effect that in future, I will skip shows I do not necessarily need to see, and pay top dollar for the few that seem essential. “12 Good Shows Closing Soon On and Off Broadway” decried New York Theater two weeks ago. Go figure, and avoid...
Read moreRead morethis was our first time visiting this place in NY. My daughter made a reservation and we were happy to come and see the show Cabaret. It was 2 of us: me and my mother 90 years old. My daughter also purchased ahead a bottle of champagne for us. We were escorted to the second floor and went there by the elevator due to Mom's walker. We were seated at the little table next to the elevator. I had my phone on and before the show - there was some pre-show music and some dancing done by the actors and actresses. Once I made 3 videos of 30 seconds each, I had 2 gentlemen coming to our table asking me to delete the videos. I thought that we couldn't take a video of the show, but not the video of us and the actors when the light was still on! I deleted the pictures, however, at that moment the person who seated us very rudely said: "I told you not to take the phone and not to take pictures!", he continued yelling at us, and after the 2 other people left he said to me: "Put your phone in the purse now!". I was so appalled to hear such disrespect and rudeness! During the first act, my mother who couldn't hear well asked me what did she say on the stage and I whispered to her ear what was said on the stage, the same person who seated us came up to me and said: "SHUT UP! YOU CAN'T TALK DURING THE SHOW". I almost cried. My day was completely ruined. When the first act was over, I went to look for the manager/supervisor. I was able to find one and quickly I told her what happened. She apologized and offered to move to another place, which I politely refused because it was hard with Mom to move anywhere at this point. She said that she would talk to this person and come upstairs. What happened after that I don't know, however, this guy didn't bother us during the second act of the show. We left the show (both of us) very upset and honestly because of this incident we couldn't enjoy the show at all. My birthday present ( 2 tickets to the show and parking at the garage) from my daughter - was completely ruined by the obnoxious, ignorant, disrespectful person at...
