What? Bronx Childrens Museum. This incredible museum opened in 2022, and features over 12,800 square feet of activities for Children. The museum features an infant and toddler room filled with books and sensory toys, a pretend grocery store, a huge water play feature, a room dedicated to arts and crafts, live animals and so much more. As well as the exhibitions, they run daily events, such as storytime, a live animal interaction and a farewell parade.
Where? The Bronx. This is actually super easy to get to from Grand Central. Catch a train from Grand Central to Yankees 153rd Street and it’s literally round the corner. It’s around a 15 minute train ride which your child will probably love.
When? The museum changes the operating dates and times frequently. For the most part of April 2023, it’s open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. You must book the morning session (10am to 1pm) or the afternoon session (1pm to 4pm) online in advance. Tickets do sell out, so make sure you book well ahead.
Cost? FREE! Currently they are operating on a ‘pay what you wish’ admission basis, and I really would encourage everyone to pay something.
Our Rating? 9/10. This is a very clean, well-staffed and overall lovely museum that was well needed. Darcy absolutely loves it here and I’m going to start visiting more occasionally as she really benefits from spending an afternoon here. It would’ve been top marks, however I have a slight concern about the stairs next to the pretend grocery store. I just feel that stairs are not a wise idea with children exploring. Other than that, I’d recommend this place to anyone with babies or toddlers.
Anything else? Just make sure you’re not going when a Yankees game is on! I totally forgot to check this and it was a bit of a hassle when it came to getting the train back to Grand Central.

Read moreWe visited this museum with our students who have special needs, and require certain accommodations due to sensory and unique learning needs. The staff was so warm and patient in how they interacted with our students and in how they included them in the varied fun, interactive centers/exhibits. Our students had fun and were kept busy and engaged with Adriana, our museum teacher for our arts & craft activity and live animal adventures, as well as Adam, who looked after us throughout our time there. They had sensory toys (and a cool sensory bag) on hand for those students who had trouble waiting--impressive! Our teachers were so grateful to them for giving our students such rewarding...
Read moreI finally had the chance to visit the museum. You have to reserve a date and time before you go. I saw the water feature, the nest, the arts & community but I didn't see the cloud featuring Bronxtopia. Everything was going well until I asked one of the female staff at the welcome desk was the upstairs opened because I saw people going up there. The older Black female staff interjected and stated that's not for you with a stank attitude! I was perplexed because I didn't ask her anything. If this woman is a manager, she needs to be trained in customer service. Overall, she made the energy shift in the room. I recommend the museum for children 7 and under. But there's not too much...
