The Yankees decided to plant a new stadium on top of a well used park. Heritage Field is one of the park areas replacing what was destroyed. It basically is a large area with well manicured grass containing a couple of baseball diamonds and little else . The Yankees aren't everything, and a public park belongs to everyone. To plant your private building on a public park screwing over the taxpayers by being allowed to issue tax free bonds so you can pay an artificially low interest rate (besides the other benefits extorted form NYC under the threat of leaving all together deserves negative stars. Read moreI thought it was very cool that the public was given the ability to play on the old Yankee Stadium here at Heritage Field. Right across the street from the Yankees current ballpark, Heritage Field is a great place to have a catch before the game if there are no little league games, and it's located nearby bars and a McDonald's if comparatively inexpensive food or drinks is a necessary.
It's a baseball park with a fun atmosphere, and the fact that you're playing ball on the same field as greats like Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, DiMaggio, Reggie, Jeter, Jim Leyritz, as well as anybody who's anybody in baseball that played against the Yankees at their former park. Read moreIt is such a shame that the Dept. of Parks does not maintain this beautiful park. The bathrooms on the park level have been closed for over a week, making it so inconvenient for all the children there as well as the parents. And of course what happens, people are urinating all over the place. The baseball fields are not maintained , there are holes in the ground at the batters box, the softball field hasn't been maintained in years. The garbage is not picked up on a regular basis in the weekends, the garbage overflows all over the garbage cans, I see workers there on the weekends doing absolutely nothing.
