Unpleasant Experience. I've been patronizing this store for over 14 years, and today's experience was the straw that broke the camels back. Management was extremely rude and dismissive. I entered the store to request the refund for six (6) 3L Poland Spring water bottles because the bottle return machines located outside the store could not accept 3L bottles. I was told that I would have to take the bottles to a machine that would except the return. After explaining that the purchase was made at this store and that i should not be required to find another store to receive a refund, the "manager" stated this was the store's policy. I further inquired what will be done in the future to accommodate the return of larger size water bottles and was told that although they sold the bottles they do not have to provide the 5 cent return. Surprised at his response, i felt that Corporate should be made aware of the stores policy. When I asked for his name, only the first name was provided (Armado). When I asked for the spelling, he immediately became defensive and asked what did I need his name for. I calmly explained that my intention was to notify corporate on the stores policy: sell Poland Spring water but not willing to honor the NY State bottle return. Once again I asked for the spelling. The "manager" turned his back toward me and walked away and then in mid sentence, dismissively waved me off. I stood there in disbelief, could not believe this was my interaction with the store manager. In an attempt to confirm the position and the name of the individual, I returned to the customer service station and asked the sales associate the name of the manager, she stated "Armado." When asked to spell the name, she stated, "I dont know how to spell his name." How convenient that you have an associate working in a store and she did not know how to spell a manager's name. The unwillingness to provide the first, last and correct spelling of his name leads me to believe that this is not the corporate policy. If you do not have enough respect for me as a customer to be courteous and respectful, then you will not receive my money. I will no longer patronize...
Read moreAs a Canarsian since 1994, I like it when there are supermarkets that are open 24 hours to fit the needs of people who don't have the typical 9-5 schedule. Enter Cherry Valley. I have been going there since January 2017 at odd hours in the morning. I will never do so again! I went around 3am to buy bleach. I entered into the laundry aisle and saw they had gallons of ammonia in stock too. I walked in with giant Starbucks tumbler. I put it into my tiny shoulder bag. I decided that I needed free hands and a shopping cart to put essentially 4 gallons of bleach and ammonia in the cart.
As soon as I was getting to walk out the store to get a shopping cart - the manager/security guard stopped me and had me open my bag. He rudely asked me if I stole anything! I retorted back to him that I was just getting a damn shopping cart! He became ultra apologetic after that. He saw I had absolutely nothing in my bag but my tumbler and my wallet. I had to tell him basically you need better surveillance cameras b/c if you supposedly were watching me on the CCTV you would have seen I just put the tumbler in my bag. The same tumbler he saw me walk into the store with!!!! The cashier was on her cellphone just being silent. Unprofessionalism at it's finest. Never in my life have I ever been racially profiled in a goddamn supermarket. The real kicker is that I have been to this market around the 2-3AM time many times before and he knows i have never stole. So what gives this time? B/C of the the giant ass tumbler? Did this rude man actually think I would steal laundry detergent and put it in a small shoulder bag???????
I advise anyone in Canarsie/Starrett City/Spring Creek to avoid this store at any and all costs. I will take my $$$$ and go to Target/Shop Rite and bigger chain markets.
If the management feels this way about their customer base, then maybe they should close down and just move to...
Read moreThis store is always price gauging currently & before the pandemic. More than a handful of times the prices are incorrect and some of the employees and managers there will not honor the sale price that’s visually advertised. Today I went to purchase cold cuts from the deli and there was a sign that quotes $4.99 for Cherry Valley Turkey Breast; the woman behind the counter who was serving me stated she couldn’t give me the Turkey. The woman was unable to explain why due to language barrier so she called store manager (short dark Dominican man) who came over & removed the sign. The man then stated he did not have to honor the price because the manufacturer of the signs made a mistake.
I told the man that he was incorrect as I didn’t know that was an error. In addition, the store manager stated the sign was suppose to have ham not Turkey on it. Again I mentioned to the store manager and the woman who was working in the deli that I asked to purchase the Cherry Valley Turkey Breast that was $4.99. The store manager continued to mention he didn’t have to sell me the Turkey meat for the price I saw because of the mistake the manufacturer made. I informed the store manager I was going to make a complaint because this is an ongoing issue in this store. The store manager stated that he didn’t care because he controls the prices and gives consent to what can be sold or not. THIS STORE NEEDS TO BE HEAVILY INVESTIGATED BECAUSE THEY CONTINUOUSLY MISTREAT PEOPLE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD ESPECIALLY PEOPLE WHO ARE UNABLE TO SHOP ELSEWHERE. If you shop there watch them closely. This store is located 1115 Pennsylvania Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11207. Always take pictures of the signs in the store…today I forgot my phone, so he was able to remove the sign that expired...
