I had an extremely disappointing experience with Gerardo Transportation that I feel compelled to share. I booked a ride for 10:00 AM, but at 8:00 AM, I received a call from the base saying the driver was already on the way. This last-minute change was disruptive and unprofessional, especially since I was traveling with my child.
After being picked up in a minivan with another passenger, we were dropped off at the Washington Heights location and transferred to another van. The second driver seemed unaware that I had a child with me and questioned me about it, despite the fact that I had clearly informed the dispatcher when booking and was told to bring a car seat — which I did. This lack of communication within their team was frustrating and unacceptable.
The problems didn’t stop there. On the way to Philadelphia, the van’s air conditioner broke down, and we had to stop at a gas station near the Turnpike to switch into yet another van. While this could have been a safety concern, the situation was handled with little transparency or reassurance.
Then came a pricing issue. I was quoted $85 for a round trip by the representative at the base, which was all I had budgeted. However, once in the van, the driver — who claimed to be the manager — insisted the fare was $85 per person, one way. This was never disclosed to me beforehand, and I was essentially strong-armed into paying more than what I was told.
To make matters worse, once we arrived in Philadelphia, we were again required to switch into yet another vehicle just to get to our final destination.
This entire process was chaotic, disorganized, and incredibly stressful — especially with a young child. Between the misinformation, lack of communication, poor vehicle maintenance, and inconsistent pricing, this was an unprofessional and unpleasant experience from beginning to end. I’m the beginning I never had issues and ever since the company grew, it’s as if they don’t care about their customers. My daughter came for the holidays and they messed up both reservations. Her aunt now has to come pick her up because they said my daughter gave them a wrong number and have been calling her since 6am! That’s BS she has no missed calls and the lady was very rude even to me because I tried explaining to her in Spanish that there are no missed calls and she kept yelling and talking over me saying my daughter DONT know her own number because there’s a different number on the caller ID!!!! She’s had this number for many years and has been traveling from Ct to Ny for quite some time now and this is not the first time she’s had problems. We are switching to another company. Customers are what bring you business and myself and my children are very respectful and know how to communicate very well, to see my daughters eyes get watery because of the disrespect makes me extremely angry that people can be so nasty!!!!! Had it been a few years back I probably would’ve went in person to speak to the nasty witch that spoke to us but I know ppl are quick to flip things around and the innocent go to jail so i am writing this review! Read moreSo the first driver picks me up. He takes my bag and puts it in the trunk along with 2 other bags from previous ppl he had already picked up. We get to the destination where they will be transferring us to the big bus, the driver takes out the other 2 bags and puts them on the bus but not mine. I didn’t notice as the bus was overcrowded as it is and I had to struggle to get all the way in the last row. When I get to ny and am coming closer to my spot I noticed it was missing and told the driver. He quickly started calling around until he found it. I appreciated that. Until he started saying this was all my fault. And that now I had to find my own way to get my bag. Mind you my bag was in the philly headquarters and I was in Ny. So after 3 hours arguing with them on the phone they decided to send my bag with the next driver. I was told they would call me when the we’re close. This was at 3pm. They never showed up. Never called. Kept hanging up on me when I tried to find out what was taking so long. Then they stopped answering my calls all together. IT WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!
