Store: Green Valley, 268 Knickerbocker Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11237 ————————————- 8/11: UPDATE So I went back here a week ago and guess who walks up to me? The manager, the actual manager (not the woman I had mistaken as the manager per my earlier post). He was very nice and warm, he apologized for the mishap and offered an explanation; apparently someone had mistyped something in the system. He said he recognized me from my profile on here and he offered me a tempting smoothie but I kindly declined. I do appreciate the effort, the manager seems to be a stand up guy and he took the time to investigate my grievances. I will definitely continue to patronize this grocery store. —————————————————— I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at this store. I had to walk back and forth twice—nearly 10 minutes each way—because they charged me $36.80 for a 52oz bottle of Simply Orange Juice, when I actually purchased a 46oz bottle. What makes it worse is that this isn’t the first time. About two weeks ago, a similar overcharge happened, but I let it slide. Today, I decided to address it—and the way they handled it was unacceptable. When I returned to the store, the cashier who rang me up (a woman with dyed blond hair) pretended not to know what I was talking about. A woman I assume was the manager then jumped in, and instead of trying to help, she instructed the cashier to go assist at another register, clearly trying to minimize the situation and avoid accountability. I calmly pointed out the mistake and showed them my receipt. Only then did the manager retrieve another bottle and ring it up again—unsurprisingly, it showed the same incorrect $36+ charge. Are we really supposed to believe that no one noticed a $36 bottle of juice at the register? I also tried to point out that the bottle was 46oz, not 52oz as they rang up, but the manager kept cutting me off and trying to hush the conversation. It was clear she didn’t want other customers hearing what was going on. I let it go because the bottle was only $4, but I left feeling uneasy. Now I have to second-guess every price at this store. Who knows what else is being mischarged? Buyers beware. Scroll through the pictures—I’ve included the original and refund receipts. Not once did anyone apologize.

The Protein Power Shake, featuring a blend of strawberry, banana, flaxseed, almond milk, and protein powder, delivered an exceptional gustatory experience. This concoction exhibited an exquisite balance of flavors, offering a delightful taste that was neither overpowering nor overly pungent. The synergy between the ingredients culminated in a well-rounded profile, showcasing a harmonious fusion of sweetness from the fruits and the nuttiness of almond milk, complemented by the protein powder. Overall, it was a standout choice for its commendable balance and enjoyable taste. Moving to the Super Green Juice, a combination of cucumber, kale, spinach, and apple, it managed to surpass expectations, especially considering personal reservations about kale and spinach in beverages. This drink offered a surprisingly palatable experience, characterized by a well-balanced blend that negated the typical bitterness associated with greens. The cucumber and apple contributed refreshing sweetness, effectively mitigating the assertiveness of kale and spinach, resulting in a pleasant and agreeable taste profile. The careful blending ensured a delightful, well-balanced, and flavorful outcome. The Carrot-Turmeric-Pineapple blend provided a unique and intriguing experience, with a play of both spicy and sweet notes. The inclusion of turmeric and pineapple offered a distinctive combination that pleasantly surprised the taste buds. The spiciness of turmeric harmonized beautifully with the sweetness of pineapple and the earthy tones of carrot, creating an engaging flavor profile that was both refreshing and invigorating. In conclusion, each beverage showcased meticulous attention to flavor harmony and balance. The Protein Power Shake stood out for its well-rounded taste, while the Super Green Juice defied expectations by offering a pleasant blend despite the inclusion of kale and spinach. Additionally, the innovative combination in the Carrot-Turmeric-Pineapple blend provided an intriguing and enjoyable drinking experience, catering to both spicy and sweet taste preferences.

I have come to this store at least 3 times a week since it opened. The staff is very friendly and the prices are great. I gave them four stars because unfortunately they have several issues with air freshener and scented cleaning products. Firstly, they use a scented cleaning product that I have tasted on the fruit many times, only when I get the fruit from the inside fridge where you first walk in. It has tasted like the same perfume-y taste on blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, cherries, etc. I have also tasted it on the cans of beverages I have purchased here. Even when you wash the fruit or can thoroughly, the smell does not come off. Recently they added some sort of air freshener section which sits right out next to the fruit. It’s so unnecessary to sell air freshener here, and so unnecessary to have it right next to the fruit. It’s such an aggressive smell. I haven’t bought any fruit nearby that air freshener section because I’m afraid to taste the chemical scent on the fruit. Edit: I updated the review to five stars. As you can see by the owners response, the people who work here and own the store really are the best. I did go to the store recently and saw they moved the air fresheners and they are no longer near the food. I am moving soon and will be very sad without this place nearby. I tell all my friends about this store and they always stop by when they visit my apartment, because the produce is that cheap and that good. Thank you, green valley!

I often find myself reminiscing about Green Valley. Even in the throes of a busy day, my mind meanders towards this grocery store in Bushwick, wrapped in an aura of comforting familiarity. It seems that this store has become an extension of my reality.

I navigate through the aisles of Green Valley, feeling weightless and engaged. I am drawn in, as if suspended in a constellation of flavors and textures. The vivid palette of fruits, vegetables, and other provisions speaks to me in the only language it knows — through the visual and aromatic symphony that fills the air.

Green Valley can be a maze to the uninitiated. It is easy to lose oneself here; to forget the mundane routine outside; to get lost amidst the shelves stocked with an array of goods. The wares displayed seem to tell a story, one that I am eager to comprehend. The only reality here is the one actively constructed for me.

The store is a place of hidden treasures and delightful surprises. It's where the unexpected comes to life. If I look closely at the cold buffet, the spread of dishes seems to whisper to me, inviting me deeper into the culinary adventure. I find myself at the bottom of a gastronomic ocean, my hands reaching through the abundance as I watch them rise up towards the surface. This resonates with me in a way that few other experiences do.

Then, there's the staff -- their dedication is not just their own, but a collective endeavor. These people might as well be me, for they are just like me. We are all inhabitants of the same world, often hidden in plain sight.

I stand before the bustling counter and find myself on the cusp of a profound realization. But then the hustle of the outside world encroaches, and I am jolted back to the present. Where am I now? Where had I just been? Green Valley, of course, as if I didn’t already know.

With or without intention, I return to this inviting place. In comparison, my mundane routine feels like an illusion; a single cog in the machine on the edge of a dream. The memories of Green Valley continue to play out in my mind, forever etched into my memory. Like a bridge, it connects the everyday with the extraordinary.

I am struck by the harmonious balance of the atmosphere. Just as water flows naturally to the lowest point, I am called to let things happen naturally here. And there, amidst the bustling checkout lines and shifting inventory, a question dawns on me — what is Green Valley, really?

Some folks can visit Green Valley and come away thinking it's a simple grocery store in Bushwick. Others might sample from the cold buffet and discover the secrets of the universe. The beauty of Green Valley lies in its ability to be both — a practical resource and a doorway to something...
