As I canât respond to the claim by the owner that there is âBSâ in my review, let me clarify some things and this is probably why this store sucks with comics books. The reason I waited 2 weeks to pickup my comics is because the books are released every two weeks, on Wednesday. If you knew even the slightest thing about comics youâd know that. I asked for flash 47 both variants, flash 47 was released yesterday and I went in YESTERDAY to pick them up. The fact that you didnât put in the order or somehow donât know that thatâs how comics work isnât my fault, sooooo, Yeah get your act together.
Original Review
So I stop in this place to check out their comic selection. Really not much there but I speak to one of the guys in the store and he tells me if I start a pull list there, they'd get me whatever books I wanted, in mint condition. The only thing was that I had to pick up my books promptly. He then tells me I have to email them my contact info and what books I want to start my pull list. I do so, fully expecting my books to get there. 2 weeks pass and it's time to pick up my books. I swing by yesterday, and no one can find my books. Then I get told "ohh, it takes two weeks to get your books" which was never explained when signing up. It was clear no one knew what was going on. I gave this place a shot as it's a local shop and I wanted to support. My mistake was thinking I could trust them with books I needed and now can't find. If you're looking for comics,...
Read moreQuestion: Have you roamed to countless record stores and dug through record bin after record bin in search of a black metal record that is the equivalent of vantablack only to be disappointed as you flip through a bottomless number of the Record Store Day exclusive of DJ Khaledâs Victory? If this sounds familiar and you quietly growled âyesâ in response, then make it a priority to visit Vinyl Fantasy in Bushwick.
Think of this cozy shop like one of those soda fountains that have an endless number of flavors to choose from with a splash of \m/. The store is stocked with every type of metal genre for your headbanging and air drum needs. If thatâs not your steez, thatâs totally fine too as youâll also find records in plenty of other genres like hip-hop, folk, and jazz.
Similar to their eclectic record collection, Vinyl Fantasy also has a diverse selection of comics and graphic novels. Whether youâre interested in binge-reading a classic like Preacher or a new release like Aya: Life in the Yop City, they got chu.
Lastly, enough canât be said on how wonderful Ilana and Joe are. They are immensely welcoming and helpful, as well as beyond knowledgeable about the products they sell, going as far as to make me look good when asked about gift recommendations.
Oh, and if youâre able to go to the store, there is a high chance youâll see a dog. And who doesnât want...
Read moreThis store was recommended to me by a friend upon moving to the neighborhood and I couldn't have been more excited to have this type of shop so close to home. My experience was disappointing to say the least, embarrassing and condescending to say the worst. Upon first arrival my hopes were fullfilled as the shop has a very interesting selection of comics not found at other stores in the city. As I looked through their selection and a specific comic, the employee managing the counter said "We don't mind you flipping through the comics but we do really discourage you reading them." Not rude at face value. What was uncomfortable was that I had been in the store for under five minutes, and holding that specific comic for all of fifteen seconds. "Flipping through" was quite literally all I was doing. Feeling like I had somehow outstayed my welcome, and a little embarrassed I left shortly after. Can't say I will be giving them my business as it's tough to buy comics when feeling nervous about even being on...
