I have have made numerous Guy Hepner inquiries via 1stdibs but decided NEVER to buy any artwork as I was repeatedly turned off by Guy Hepner's callous way of doing business; plain and simple, they don't know what they are doing.
They don't have most of the works they claim to offer for sale. I decided not to become a client of Guy Hepner because of a consistent pattern of concerning business practices and urge anyone who is also considering an art purchase through Guy Hepner to not become one either.
Plain & simple; Guy Hepner is NOT a first class establishment; it is NOT an art gallery; Guy Hepner sells whatever it can get its hands on, and generally that is downscale, questionable and spurious material at best. Most problematic, Guy Hepner is notorious for marketing works of art they do not have, own or control.
Look at all of the Andy Warhol prints and paintings on Guy Hepner's website and the truth is the majority of art they show on its website is not found in their inventory and impossible to view. In most cases, they don't even know the owner. Very simply, Hepner just takes photographs from other art dealers, often without permission and that is why so many photographs are of poor quality; look at many of the photos they show on its website, you will notice that many are highly pixelated. What Hepner is doing is pretending so that unsuspecting buyers think they have those works of art.
When I asked to see a particular painting Hepner advertised on 1stdibs, the response was what I call the "Guy Hepner double-talk excuse". The reason is simple. Guy Hepner doesn't even own the majority of the inventory they show on its website. Check out how many Andy Warhol artworks they list on its website; again, it is a FANTASY. Same thing for Lichtenstein, Haring, Hockney, Kaws, etc.
It is a just one big sham or con. Hepner's instagram account is also filled photos of artwork they have never sold, seen or owned, and the again it is one big fantasy otherwise known as a con job.
Art buyers in 2021 like straight talk, not fantasy or pretend talk and excuses. Guy Hepner is NOT an art gallery and is NOT a place to go if you are looking for a safe, reputable place for serious art...

English- Version:
Hereby I would like to share my personel experiences I made with this gallery Guy Hepner from New York with buying a Banksy artwork. All my statements I can prove on the basis of documents and correspondence.
On 04/15/2019 I bought via Internet a signed Banksy print and paid the whole amount by wire transfer within a few days.
Excellent quality with a COA from Pest Control was assured in the invoice from Guy Hepner. Now began a long journey for me, with many broken promises and difficulties and demands for patience. It was never admitted that my artwork from Banksy is not in their possession. I have never received this important and enlightening information.‼️
With all due respect : I could never have imagined that the artwork comes from UK, becaue I bought in New York. I have no crystal ball to see that: and if the artwork comes from US then I have to pay Customs in Germany🇩🇪!!! (A. I hope you know what I mean.)
Guy Hepner offer this Banksy artworks on his website an can not deliver after I have paid the invoice. Why nobody say it quite openly that to me? 😡 After almost two months I got it – I comes directly from London UK 🇬🇧 The artwork was not in „mind condition“, but had a kind of printing imperfection. Nevertheless, I have kept the artwork. But in my view this should know before I purchase it. The artwork came without the COA from Pest Control. I takes three weeks until the COA arrives.
❌Based on these facts: no recommendation from me. ❌
Summary:
⛔️ long delivery times - what will be unacceptable ⛔️ no fair and clear communication ⛔️ I am frustrated and bitterly disappointed from this Gallery.
My recommendation:🙏 ask for binding delivery date and arrange confirmation, before buying. For me: it was the first and...
Read moreAs a queer artist who has shown here and if you look at how many 5 star reviews my showcase got, it pains me to say my experience was AWFUL here.
I was hazed and treated horribly by this gallery and when they fired the director recently for misconduct I reached out to the owner for answers. His response, “we’re not taking on new artists at this time.”…
To this day my work is still posted on their website after they deleted me off their artist list. The description also lists one of my works being from Virgil Abloh.
Artists deserve better treatment then this and if this is how Guy Hepner wants to treat queer artists, just know the artists you’re still profiting off of who have passed on, are rolling in their graves. This review is to warn other artists to proceed with caution. I have never experienced anything like this before in my life.
You’re welcome for all the 5 star ratings.
Update: Still no apology or explanation, they have removed my art off their website...
