The highline for me is a must visit. Such a cool concept. Very well upkept, clean and all benches, floors and even public toilets remained/appeared to well maintained and cleaned regularly. If you enter from the walk stairs close by to the Chelsea Market (another recommendation, if you’re in the area) grave yourself an ice cream or sandwhich, taco? You can walk towards the harbour and get a nice little view of the Statue of Liberty 🗽 The greenery, and peace you feel while walking above the streets and roads below, is so refreshing. Floating above the drama below but still enjoying the architecture, and the atmosphere of New York but off the sidewalk, such a difference. Can be crowded and busy - we were visiting on a random weekday, outside of the regular school timetabled holidays. It was hustle and bustle but other areas completely quiet.

I visited the High Line Observatory and it was an incredible experience. From up there, you get a completely unique perspective of New York City — the streets, buildings, and the Hudson River all look different from above. You can really appreciate the contrast between the modern architecture and the historic neighborhoods. It’s also a great spot for photography, whether you want sweeping skyline shots or detailed views of the city’s bustling streets below. The observatory itself is well-designed, offering plenty of vantage points to relax, pause, and truly soak in the atmosphere. Spending a few minutes there gives you a sense of New York from a fresh angle that you don’t get anywhere else.

Friends came down from NH and wanted to tour High Line. A little history. Trains as transport ran on solid ground. In NYC this was dangerous. First underground was in Brooklyn, but that's another story. So above ground started in mid 1920's. Eventually train traffic began less useful as trucks began more deliveries. Google history of the High Line in New York City. Many videos available. Such a shame this historic and public park must be removed and returned to a US federal transportation center! Yes, it must be returned to the government by 2030 in its original degenerated condition! So it may remain as transportation. So sorry! Visited and comments April 1, 2023.

The High Line in Manhattan is a remarkable urban oasis that offers a refreshing break from the city’s hustle and bustle. This elevated park, ingeniously repurposed from an old railway line, provides a serene and scenic pathway through the heart of the West Side. Walking along the High Line, visitors are treated to breathtaking views of the city skyline, lush greenery, vibrant art installations, and cozy seating areas perfect for relaxation or people-watching. Whether you’re a nature lover, art enthusiast, or simply seeking a peaceful retreat, the High Line delivers an unforgettable experience that beautifully merges nature with urban charm.
