[UPDATE] My previous review was from 3 months ago. It was my first time going to J&V nails. I found it by accident. I was having an awful day after finding out I had a miscarriage and treated myself to a "me day" by getting a manicure. It was a lovely first experience.
I went back a second time on March 28th to get a pastel rainbow french gel manicure and I was so happy with the result and care that they took. Each nail tip was a different pastel color with 2 daisies on each nail. I was charged $65. (I've included a photo)
Yesterday I went in for my 3rd visit. Getting my nails done is a moment of peace for me. Where I can forget about my health problems at least for just a moment and feel pampered. I thought my visit yesterday would be like my previous ones but I was wrong.
I arrived at 6:44 PM and asked if they had time for a regular pedicure and a gel manicure. I showed them a design that I liked for inspiration. I wanted a pale pink french gel manicure with just a flower from the inspiration picture that I showed them on each nail. The lady doing my pedicure was lovely.
Vivian started taking off my previous gel polish while I got my pedicure. She was in an awful mood towards me.
The lady in the front, who I'm guessing is the owner, walked up to me and told me the design I showed them would be in the 100s. I asked if the design could be simplified or if Vivian choose a flower design that would cost the same as my previous manicure. She told me it was not possible. That they could only do daisies for the price of my previous manicure.
I was confused as to how a flower with elongated petals would be $35 more than the daises they did last month. She told me it was $30 for a gel manicure, $15 for it being a french manicure design and then $20 for the flowers. But on my previous visit, I was told it was $65 because it cost extra to have each nail be a different color. I was very confused. So I asked if maybe we could just do a similar flower design to the one that I showed them on just one nail on each hand to keep it simple. She said no. They showed me nail stickers that they could use on each nail for the price of $20. I have never used nail stickers before and they were really pretty so I accepted. I asked if it was just as durable and they told me it was because of the gel top coat.
Vivian was so cold towards me during my manicure. She seemed so frustrated with me and would huff and puff while doing my nails. When she was done curing all of my nails, the stickers on 3 fingers were already peeling off.
When I showed them, the lady in the front was so frustrated with me as if I had been an annoyance my entire visit and grabbed my hand so harshly that she dug her nails into my hand and looked at my nails and said "what's the problem??"
Then she said "This is what you get. You chose the cheaper option."
I told her that I specifically asked if it was durable and she had told me yes. They had been so annoyed over a different type of flower on my nail and overcharging me so yes, I chose the cheaper option that was just as pretty after being told it was durable.
Then she said "This is my fault for seeing you so late. We don't take clients this late."
I arrived at 6:44 PM. They were done with my pedicure at 7:11 PM. I was at the table getting my manicure and around 7:15 PM a lady walked in for a manicure and they said yes. So I don't understand how she could say that.
They made me feel like such a bother. They fixed the peeling stickers with gel x and basically told me I was lucky that I wasn't getting charged for that.
I left and cried. I have never been treated so poorly before. I'm kind and respectful towards everyone. I would hope I deserved the same kind of respect and kindness.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreUPDATE: Very inconsistent work.. I came in for my UV gel fill on 12/3/2024 and my nails were rushed. Let me explain: I told Winnie (nail tech) that the UV gel was too thick on my right pinky, she attempted to file it down more and it was still thick.. so for rest of the nails, some nails were thick and some were TOO thin at the tip. It now looks so inconsistent and ugly.. I actually want to cry.. (pics included) she cut me twice with the E-file that my right ring finger is swollen and red. she was rushing my set to accommodate another customer that she forgot to clean off the excess polish on my fingers. Even though I hated the work, I still tipped her and as I was walking out, I heard her complain about the amount I had tipped to her coworkers. (I can understand mandarin more than I can speak it.)
Overall, this negative experience was traumatizing and a waste of money. I will not be coming back.
ORIGINAL: Came in for a UV Gel fill today and I am in love with this new salon! From the minute I walked in, everyone was so nice and welcoming. I love how beautiful and CLEAN the salon is, it makes the experience even better!
Fiona was my nail technician today and she did such an amazing job! Her attention to detail is spot on! She checks the shape of your nails from multiple angles and even asks you to do a final check before proceeding with polish. Also, she was not afraid to push back my cuticles and really get in there! LOL
10/10 I am definitely coming back here!!
Also for the month of October, theyāre doing a 40% off promo!!! And 30% off for November!!! If you are considering this salon, I would highly suggest coming especially...
