Sadly disappointed.. my friend is visiting from CA. We wanted a close brunch spot and found this place online. The reviews were pretty good.
The place looks cute. The tables were disappointingly small. One of the server/bartenders allowed us to drag over a 2nd table. 1 table on its own is really just too narrow. Otherwise the interior was decorated nice with the fake vine leaves...
Service kind of sucked. Just really slow with everything. Think there were only 2 people working the floor. They were both bartending and serving tables and busing tables.
We got seated right away and given menus. Then it was a good long while before anyone checked if we were ready. No one came to even see if wanted anything to drink. We flagged down the guy. Placed drink and food order because who knows when we will get their attention again.
We got bottomless drinks, tea, shared chicken and waffles and this whipped feta with spicy fig and sourdough.
Drinks .... Um the tea was ok it came in a big clear mug with a flower on it. Was piping hot I had to put ice cubes in it. 1st tried passion fruit Bellini. That was good just a bit too much on the sweet side. Mimosa was ok but I wouldn't get it again. Peach Bellini wasn't my favorite. I did a check-in on the app which gave me a free espresso martini..,now that was on point.
Food ... Chicken and waffles... Um NO.. the chicken batter was sad. The waffle itself wasn't really any good, a bit too cakey... The sauce was ok. Whipped feta was nice but not great. Their "sourdough" tasted like the cheapest bread you can buy at a grocery store. The whipped feta felt like it needed more love.
We were starving, so we ate, drank and couldn't wait to leave. No one came to clear any of our empty glasses or empty plates. No one came to check how everything was, if we needed anything else. We had to flag down one of the people working to get our check. Then wait a while before they returned.
It was a lot of waiting, mediocre food, so-so drinks and a waste of time. Sadly I think the best thing we got was the Free espresso martini. I've worked on many restaurants.... The table next to us had a drink in a cat statue.... If you know you know... Most places will not take the time to properly clean those things. Lots of small corners that a sponge or a brush will not get into and so over time bacteria will grow... Nasty. The girl at that table said she comes there a lot and enjoy a few different drinks but said nothing about any of the food...
Bottom line, espresso martini hell yes, someone said their drinks are great, service really slow, food... Um...
Read moreI recently visited Baraki and had an outstanding experience. The food was excellent, especially the burnt grilled cheese. It tasted like it had bacon, but surprisingly, it didn't. The Mediterranean eggs benedict was delicious, and the shakshouka was really good. Loved the food! Omg loved the food so much.
The beverages were exceptionally well-crafted. Unlike many brunch spots where drinks often taste like hastily mixed alcohol, these cocktails showcased thoughtful composition. We sampled Honey Honey and Don't Forget Your Veggies. Both drinks exhibited wonderfully balanced flavors that perfectly complemented our meal. Honey Honey offered a delicate sweetness reminiscent of honeyed water with a subtle alcoholic warmth, while Don't Forget Your Veggies presented a light, refreshing profile enhanced by Thai basil. It was evident that each drink was carefully designed to be a proper cocktail experience, not just an afterthought to the food menu.
The service was top-notch. Everyone was friendly, especially Foti, the owner. He made us feel welcome and gave great recommendations. We're excited about their plans to open a jazz spot.
The value was amazing. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of food and drinks we got. We went for brunch and felt it was excellent value for money.
Thank you, Baraki, for a wonderful brunch experience. The burnt grilled cheese was exceptional, and the "holy water" shots were a delightful surprise. We're already looking forward to...
Read moreAn Instagram post got me here. My friends and I came in after work on the last day before break. This is notable because the other groups in here all seemed to be teachers ( we love an after work/pre break hang out). The location is cute and upscale with its lush blue velvet seating and little interesting items behind the bar. We ordered fries that looked like they had some type of seasoning on them but were just plain fries. Friend 1 ordered the chicken sandwich and fries. She enjoyed it. It was served with yummy sauces on the side. Friend 2 ordered the chicken quesadilla. Also enjoyed it. Was a good portion. I had the focaccia grilled cheese with vodka sauce. It was tasty. The 3 pieces didnât look like much but it was actually filling. It was some type of special/secret menu item. It was delicious. The playlist/sonos set up was hitting. The music was really good and the staff were all friendly and knowledgeable. We asked what we should get and our waiter had OPTIONS! He knew the menu well and all the little off the record stuff that sounded delicious a. For drinks I ordered the mule. My friends had a gold digger and a margarita. The drinks were tasty. They had funky names and interesting ingredient. One of the drinks had air as an ingredient and another was served in a very cute cat cup. They also sent out a round of shots, limonada something, which was delicious as well.
The vibe was cute and food and drinks were tasty. Iâll...
